The refereeing officer for the ICU Canoepolo Committee (also DCPL officer), Sean Downes will be organising assessments and courses at most competitions during the year. All teams should be working to have one qualified referee by the end of the year. There will be no excuses for teams not achieving this. Teams could be refused entry to tournaments and leagues if they do not supply qualified referees.

Newsletter Registration
The newsletter registration has not been working on the website for some time. The problem has now been rectified and we would now encourage people to register their names through the new facility. The current method of sending out mails will be withdrawn and the new facility will be in operation. So everyone should re-register through the new process. Please log into http://www.canoepolo.ie.

European Canoe Polo Poll
There is a Poll on http://www.canoe-europe.org (http://www.canoe-europe.org/) for which is your best
Canoe-sport. So far dragon boating is ruling the field. Lets geet the
other disciplines up there as well.

Equipment
Last year the ICU Canoe Polo Committee purchased a set of floating
goals for use in our tournaments. This year we are looking to buy a
second set.

Club development and equipment news
It has also come to my attention that UlsterCanoePolo are also buying
a set and Cookstown county council are buying a fourth set. This is
good to see organisations investing in Polo in their area. The Ulster
Canoe Polo Club are also investing in static goals and othere
equipment. WWKC have also purchased a new fleet of polo boats to aid
in the development of polo and Tullamore are looking to purchase polo
gear. The Inny canoe Club are working to build a new boathouse.
Limerick canoe polo has also had a boast with the re-establishment of
Limerick Canoe Polo club. This club is also looking for property and
investment in gear.

Galway date
The Galway Cup event has been confirmed as June 23rd/24th. Currently
this gives us a tournament nearly every week during the summer.
