Code of Ethics in Sport
In our sport it is imperative that we are aware of the Code of Ethics in Sport and that all work to ensure that adults and children are protected.
With this in mind the Irish Canoe Union will be running the first of a series of Code of Ethics courses in Kilcock. Details:

This course is normally run over 2 days so you are getting the benefit of it being run on 1 day.
All adults involved with Children in sport are encouraged to do this course and in the future it will be mandatory for all people involved in sport to have this course done as a minimum.

Mens Squad
The first Mens Squad training session for this year will be 3 and 4 of March in Kilcock. Provisional meeting time at 9am to be on the water for 10. So it is 9 on 3rd March in Kilcock. All welcome.
The next squad sessions are provisional and will be confirmed closer to the date but well in advance. 7/8 April, 26 May, 9/10 June. Updates will be posted on www.canoepolo.com (http://www.canoepolo.com) with all the latest news and confirm all dates of sessions, tournaments and coaching weekends.

Womens Squad
Training
The Womens squad has had 2 Open days to date with the next session seeing the potential squad members (14 in all) and the development squad being split into 2. The squad has their dates finalised for the season and should will see the squad going to several competitions throughout the year.
Dogs (Words from Yvonne)There is a fundraiser for members of the Womens Polo Squad, and we need all of your support. We are having a ....wait for it.....DOGS NIGHT....(no smart comments please)

Thats 10euro and you get to spend time in the company of us amazing ,lovely,fun,tipsey ladies
So tickets can be bought from me yvonne at the pool on friday night, or ask around the Ladies Squad. Pauline,Louise,Ruth will also be selling tickets.
We hope that every team will purchase some tickets to help the Ladies fundraiser for the year including the Europeans in france this year.
U21 Men Squad training
Open day at a venue to be decided on the 10th March TBD. Will update in a second mail next week
U21 Womens Squad training.
The first session saw several young ladies attend a training session in Kilcock. There is room for more U21's to attend these sessions and if you are female under 21 then contact Patricia McCormack for details of next sessions ( Will hope to have dates for an update next week.

Refereeing
DCPL have set a new standard for referees in Ireland with grades 1- 3 now being established. Details can be found on www.dublincanoepolo.ie (http://www.dublincanoepolo.ie). The refereeing officer for the ICU Canoepolo Committee (also DCPL officer), Sean Downes will be organising assessments and courses at most competitions during the year. All teams should be working to have one qualified referee by the end of the year. There will be no excuses for teams not achieving this. Teams could be refused entry to tournaments and leagues if they do not supply qualified referees.
Newsletter Registration
The newsletter registration has not been working on the website for some time. The problem has now been rectified and we would now encourage people to register their names through the new facility. The current method of sending out mails will be withdrawn and the new facility will be in operation. So everyone should re-register through the new process. Please log into http://www.canoepolo.ie.
