View Full Version : Natal Trials
On Monday the Natal Trials were held up in PMB pool at 6.30. there was a decent turn out. After warm ups and drills we played a game and the team was selected below.
The Natal Men’s A Side is : Craig, Kade, Dean, Matt and Dale, with Jordan as a probable reserve pending team numbers.
Not too sure what the B side consists of.

Hi guys,
Sorry we've been out of touch, we've moved and our new house doesn't have internet yet - will probably take a while to sort out. Service over here is often shocking, and we though Telkom was bad!
Well done all of you, now go get that trophy again! Glad to hear things are still ticking over there. I also saw the new KZN polo committee has been selected - good luck to all of you, especially Peter as Chair! Not an easy job, as both Clive and I know ;)
I would love nothing more than to come over an enjoy the beach in July, but I'm afraid I'm not sure when we'll make it again! I certainly won't be in a state to travel at that time of year. Clive'll probably be over whenever the next National selections are, is my guess. Any clues on when that might be yet?
As for visiting in general, we now have a spare room so why don't you come over here and play some real polo for month or two? You can even have my share of any cider going 'round :D Seriously, we will put up any SA polo player wanting to come over and train & play in Europe for a while.

Haven't spoken to any of you guys for YEARS! what's going on with everyone?

Hey guys,
Sorry to hear SA champs have been postponed and your KZN team will have to be re-selected.
Sarah, I admire your National Pride, but all I have to say is hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm really?! ;) Hope you've managed to sort out some polo up where you are. Warning: the SA guys, apart from Dean (and of course Kade, who you haven't met) aren't very chatty!

ya it sucks a bit bout them being posponed but maybe clive will come visit and play for us then???
Sarah, whats happening, nice to hear from you!!!!!
Laurel im considering maybe coming out in july during varsity holidays to train for a few weeks, will keep you posted , i think i have to chose between a 21st party or flight overseas... then Ze German can take me for that beer he offered the other day!!
WHERE THE OTHER SOUTH AFRICANS!!!!!!!!!!!????????
Hey all! Nice to see some posts on this thread, albiet mainly from "out of towners"..he he.
Ya i t does suck that SA Champs have been moved, but atleast it gives us more time to get stronger. Its good we are going to have another set of trials, keeps the guys on there toes!! Im not too sure whats happining about the SA Selections or trials, i know that during SA Champs, the guys that are wanting to represent SA will have to fill out a contract to comit to training for trials, or something to that effect. Will have to wait and see!
Hope the cold is easing up for you pomm's :D ! Or do you use beer as a form of defence against the winter chill?

Haha, no the real poms drink this strange warm yucky version of beer, not pleasant! The cider isn't just for South Africans my dear Dean, you aren't that special - it's for anyone who is gay enough not to score any goals at a tournament!
Clive won't be over in July I'm afraid - he won't be travelling too far away from me in those last all-important months. But perhaps December, or early next year. We'll keep in touch with what decisions are made around selections, and make decisions around that.
Dean, fantastic to hear you might be coming over in July - I'll email you some tournament dates and see if you can manage one or two of those while you're here too. My offer of a place to stay still stands firm, and you can even use my boat for training in, since I won't be using it much by then!!!!

Hey Dean, yeah i'm ok. hows u?
They seem quite chatty to me Laurel! Well, if you count beer (or cider) as chatty cos its all you lot seem to talk about! :D
I'm sorry guys, but if you didn't cry at titanic you have NO heart!!!!
Its so sad! :waah: :waah:
Or maybe that's just me... :p

Yes I am impressed with the amount of "chat" that's been going on, whatever the subject! You will note, however, that, as I said: only Dean and Kade (of the SA guys, who aren't by any means the only ones that post on the SA forum - it would be pretty dead if they were, so thanks for joining in Sarah) are chatty! They just did me the favour of proving my point. Thanks guys

haha!!! i did score, duggie just claims i didn't score so he could force that cider rubbish down my innocent throat!! ;)
Well the reason why Kade and I are the only ones 'Chattin' on here is because Kade's job is designing porn sites, oops, sorry, online gambling sites and im a varsity student who thinks he has spare time to stuff around on the net all day!!!
Ya thanks sarah for your moral support!! where's duggie and hudman, they been pretty quiet???? to much cider hey guys?? :drunk:
Gotta sleep. tournament in the morning.

Oooh yes, I'm sure he was wishing it was cider!
Well, some of it was cider! I would say quite a lot of cider... more than you would want for sure... but proportionally to what was consumed... not that much... :p:cheers:
I don't know how he got home... but I know he survived... :drunk:

first things first, im never drinking with those guys again, EVER!!!!!!
Those circus midgets can not handle their booze!!!!!!
Laurel what were you doing out partying hey!!!???
It was just a random tournament where we put together mixed teams, advanced and beginners and and whoever so it was lots of fun but also very competetive. During the day we also played games like Durban vs Maritzburg, ladies vs whoever and so on. was fun!!!
Its getting really cold here in a hurry, been rather strange weather. Durbs has huge waves, there is no longer a beach, the water is running straight into the steers and Joe Kools (laurel knows what im talking about). super strong winds and all, been crazy!! Tonights practice was cold, had to wear a helley which have not done forever!!!
Ok im bored of typing now, someone wake duggie up!!!!
Cheers

Glad to hear the tournament was fun - many new players coming through? Any new ladies??? New blood is what SA polo really needs!
So am I now expected to forevermore sit at home? I was only drinking orange juice, honest! I left the Guinness to Clive. I've become quite a useful designated driver actually.
I read about the strange weather in the newpapers. Our weather has suddenly turned cold from Sunday too - strange weather, switching between hail, snow, sleet and sunshine at random intervals! Battling the winds at training has been fun - all the warm kit came out of storage for training on Sunday: cag, pogies, hot top, the lot!
Hi all...there have been many random comments in the papers and in the news...not all of it new. Yesterday, the waves were about 10-15 foot, and steers and wimpy have benn hit hard. Joe Kools has not been affected as its on the 2nd floor. The beach is still here, but no one is alowed on it. Today the swell has dropped to half the size, but still powerful..its been quite awesome to watch, as guys have been getting towed into giant waves on jet ski's! Im going for a surf tomorrow..gonna be awesome. Oh another thing is the shark nets have all been pulled down. They are hoping to get them back up by easter. (attachment is cave rock...u can usually see a wave pool in front..but its totally covered, just like the 30m or so of beach sand)
Ya the fun tournament was really cool! All the durban guys really enjoyed it and the new and intermediate guys found it really beneficial. Dean and andys team met jordan and matts team in the final, which was very well contested...with matt and jord having the upper hand and winning it. Andy was saying we are going to be having more of these, which will be brilliant!

Hiya Deano,
Cheeky ba$tard I haven't been on the cider for ages...when you're playing with the likes of Dugdale someone has to take up the chalenge and actually put one or two away! Hamish - couldn't hit a cows a$$ with a banjo - Dugdale as he will forever be called in the UK!
We did have a good night for Duggies leaving do but I doubt he remembered much of it.....he did get the obligatiory England shirt to remind him (and you guys for that matter) who are World Champions at the moment!!
