The UCLA Kayak Polo Club is currently planning on hosting an international tournament sometime in March, 2007. We would love to have either teams and/or players from abroad joining us.

We are currently considering two venues:

1) Hansen Dam
A large, unheated, fresh water pool that can accomodate two full pitches and a warm up area. We hosted the 2003 US National Championships here.

It is a nice facility but 15-20 miles (25-35 km) from most of the interesting parts of Los Angeles - so it would require driving. There may be camping options at the facility but there is nothing much of interest within walking distance. The facility is part of a larger public park.

2) Mother's Beach in Marina Del Rey
A public salt water marina beach. We have conducted several small competitions, training camps and open sessions at this location. It is pretty much in the heart of a lot of fun places to visit in Los Angeles.

We are also planning on hosting some other fun activities before and after the tournament:
- a surf camp at San Onofre (90 minutes south)
- some whitewater on the Kern River (3 hours north)
- a ski trip to Mammoth Mountain (6 hours north)

If you and/or your club might be interested in joining us, please feel free to post here or email me directly at patrickrom@yahoo.com.

Thanks,
