I am sorry to have to tell you guys this, but I feel I must!

My sources have told me that the one and only Laurel swam in her national league tournament this weekend.

Reports are vague at this time but it has been suggested she was torpedoed in the stern and was listing heavily to port before she made the decision to "abandon ship".

The craft was lost to the briny deep but salvage divers are expected to mount an operation later this week.

Our thoughts go out to Laurel and her big ginger man who undoubtedly is finding it hard not to laugh every time he looks at her.

My condolences.

Never having swum in a polo game good to get a report from somebody who has been there and done that Hudman!

Hudman, your sources are somewhat limited and clearly didn't provide complete and concise information, you should get them checked out. However, since misery likes company no matter how late in joining, and because we should all own up to our disgraces without providing too many justifications sometimes (this should make Ze German laugh, since I provided him with a full and lengthy justification this morning), I am more than happy to join you in the swimmer's hall of shame :D

Unfortunately these memories never die Hudders... still fresh as daisies in everyone else's minds! Yeah, I know, I wish it wasn't so myself :( I must just add that I first heard the story of Hudders and the lobsters in Hull this year, when I got thoroughly stuck and nearly strangled by one of those same, nasty ropes... but I managed not to swim (then at least, haha), though I swallowed so much water from so long under fighting the ropes I thought I was going to grow gills or drown!

p.s. remember, it's not dignified to try and justify your disgraces on a public forum, particularly after not bothering to get the story straight before posting about me earlier, so try salvage some pride next time, okay?!

To give you an idea, its all about how it was the ginger mans fault... of course... bloody women... always blame the(ir) men... *)

But Laurel, one thing you forgot to mention in your explanation was that you were out on the tiles till the early hours the night before... so maybe you were just hangover? or should I say hangunder? :p

*) Not all statements made in this sentence are necessarily true...

Okay guys, I think now would be a very good time to close off this thread. Enough is enough. Drinking double tequilas the night before had NOTHING to do with it, I promise :D

i was involved in the salvage operation:) i can report that the unintended exit was due (in my opinion as observer) to the fact that both ends of Laurel's boat were on top of other peoples boats AND she was on a goal line.

To be honest....i would have swum much earlier:D

Aw shucks Sam, thanks for the support, and for your help too  There is far more to the story... but I'll tell you the whole sad tale another time, in another place!
