Hi polo players

Has anyone tried using a spraydeck from GUL for canoepolo? If anyone has, what's your opinion of it?

Here's an image of the spraydeck:

I'm asking because it is relatively cheap, but I've never heard of it before.

Are you sure this deck is for polo? the gripping on the edges make it look more like for playboating. I have used GUL cag's and they are ok, nothing special.

i use this deck for playboating, ive had it for 2 yrs now i think, no holes or anything so its pretty good and its cheap! i reckon it'd be alright for polo...

My point was more would it fit a poloboat. Playboat tend to have larger cockpits than a poloboat.

If it fits and is cheap, go for it, polo would be the hardest on spraydeck of all canoeing disclipines. My current deck is bearly 6 months old and already has a couple of holes from kayak tackles.

yeah robert your right, you would have to have a pretty big cockpit on your polo boat for that deck to fit. :thumbdown

I've got a Gul deck for my river boat and it's been bombproof so far, I've smashed it against load of rocks and it's not punctured yet!

They do various sizes:

Small deck for 26" to 30" cockpits
Keyhole for 28" to 33" cockpits

Note this is cockpit size and not waist size they do two waist sizes:

Small/Med 24" 31"
Lg/Xlg 31.5" 39"

I guess you have to get the tape measure out :)

It sounds like GUL's spraydeck is robust, and with that in mind I'll start meassuring to see if the the spraydeck will fit the kayak.

Thanks for the usefull and very quick responses

I ended up buying the GUL spraydeck, and after playing with it for some time I'm ready to write my review.

It is perfectly tailored for the waist, always close to the skin even during roolls, and therefore keeps all water out. The neoprene is thicker, and the quality is the best I've ever tried (I have previous experience with Galasport and Hiko).

In Denmark it's much cheaper (50%) than other brands, so all-in-all I'm very satisfied.
