I have a Garmen GPS Watch which records heart rate and other GPS stuff including distance and speed etc.
What do you want to know. Remember, the quesitons you may ask are likely to be very specific to individuals and may be dependant to that persons own level of fitness etc.

There are probably lots of people monitoring their heart rate.. but I don't know anyone who checks his blood pressure before and/or after training..
should we?

Heart monitors are definitely great to check the pace being kept and also to see improvements in the long terms. However, I do not actually see the purpose of taking the blood pressure before and after the training, since such a parameter doesn't show major variations in such a short amount of time, and even if it does, usually doesn't have clinical importance. But indeed, keeping track of the blood pressure every 2 weeks or month would be much more relevant to underline eventual wishful decreases of the systolic value

For my work I need to show how different aspects of the sport have different effect on heart rate, I am no longer doing blood pressure though as it adds too many variables.
What i am doing to show an improvement in mine is a set distance paddle out timed and taking my heart rate before and straight after and then every 3 mins for 12 mins (4 times) 2 times a week and doing my normal training

Mr Clyde what is this special watch that you wear and what does it do?
We do not have such equipment here, what would be a good session to get the blood pumping to raise ones fitness level in a boat? Also could anyone suggest an out of boat exercises that may be helpful for polo such as a good raquet sport?
Kind regards:wavey:

You are right. However, if you measure your pressure from the beginning of your work and at the end of the period in which you wish to monitor your activity, you shall actually see changes to attributed to the physical work. Needless to say, the conditions in which you measure your pressure should be as similar as possible every time (position, time of the day, artery you take the blood pressure from, etcetera). But of all the aspects, blood pressure is not always likely to go under major changes like heart beat frequency... In any case, really best wishes for your thesis! :wavey:
