Hi Everyone,
I know that I am probably about to ask a question that has been answered many times before, but I am really looking for clarification on the subject of bumpers as the subject does seem to get really confusing!
I need to upgrade several P&H revenge boats which has the illegal integrates bumper to being legal. Do I need to remove the existing bumpers and afix foam bumpers, or is there a way that I can add some foam to the existing integral bumpers? I am guessing that it would not be good enough to simply use strips of opened up pipe lagging fixed to the existing bumper? (Which had been suggested by someone!)
Many thanks,
Chris

I presume you talking about the plastice revenge, I would leave the black caps on the baots and put the Bumpers over this. Make sure that you both Glue and use Gaffer / Duct tape to secure. Pipe Lagging would not be suitable, therefore your 2 options are,
1. Purchase the bumpers, these seems to be widley available, use the link section above to find your nearest stockist.
2. Purchase a lenght of Bouyancy style foam and cut the bumpers from this. This would probably be the most time comsuming of the 2 options.
There might be "an upgrade" kit available, if so your nearest stockist will help you out.
Good luck,
Robbie.

again if you're on about the plastic revenges, our club just brought aload and seeing as they are meant to be competition boats they therefore must be legal... we asked revenge for some bumpers and they sent us them free of charge, so i suggest give them a ring or drop them an email. but you'll need a lot of glue and tape to secure them!!

Umm, lost a bit of the link there.
So..........Page 64 spells it out, more padding required until you meet the required spec. as given.
Cheers

Thanks for your thoughts. I have spoken to P&H and they have basically said that the integral bumpers are usually ok in most of the lower leagues. They also said that the only reason that they arn't legal is because the bumper doesn't wrap around the boat far enough and to make them legal we simply need to add a small block of foam extending the bumper futher back.
Does this sound reasonable?
Many Thanks,
Chris

With regards getting away with it in lower leagues - my experience is that you MIGHT get away with it in regional leagues depending on standard and what boats other people have but you won't get away with it in any National Leagues even if only Div 4.
So better to be safe than sorry and add the extra padding.
