I've done a bit of strength training for canoe polo, over the years, in the gym- and not necessarily enjoyed being in that environment. I've just decided to get back into it and have received a program from a personal trainer. He's prescribed a "corrective stretching program" and some core conditioning exercises. They're quite unlike the "Bicep curls, Lat Pulldowns etc etc" Programs that I've received in the past. Who amongst you has tried anything like the "Horse Stance Vertical/Horizontal" to get an edge on the polo court? I request a detailed description from people who've tried something new to enhance their polo (note that, I acknowledge nothing replaces playing the game and spending time in the boat, with the ball). Of course, it would be so much more interesting if anyone had success or some dramatic failures...
In the meantime, I've only just begun....
