I've heard previously from some Brazilians that there are some folks playing in Uruguay.
Lithuania 2002 worlds - looks like stop playing. Just one player taking a part in сompetitions for other teams.
Ukrain as I know start to play and even made a camp in Holland( rumors ).
estonia - difinetly no.

Gin, you were talking about Latvia, right? Lithuania is still playing and organizing competitions.

Yes, Ukraine can be added to the list.
They are active, but on a low scale...
They were supposed to come to the Netherlands to train, but one of their sponsors bailed out last minute.
Give them a few years, but they can be added to the list already.
Just to confirm, Israel does play canoepolo, although they only started in the last few years as far as I know
Didnt New Zealand send a tour to the pacific islands a few years ago?
Are there any teams from samoa/tonga/fiji?
Keeping it real with waka socca?

And I hope canoe polo keep growing in Latin America, so we can have big Panamerican Championships in the future!

Yeah, I hope somebody is playing polo there after we fly 10000 km in 24hrs to get there. Pay more than 1000Eu for air tix too.
Who set this up anyway? We must be trying to discourage polo in North and South America by forcing us to travel so far to qualify for Worlds.

Hey Einstein,
Are you a genius?
"We must be trying to discourage polo in North and South America by forcing us to travel so far to qualify for Worlds". You should be shame of yourself after saying something like that.

I exchanged emails recently with an outfitter in Israel, and he says he thinks his group is the only polo team in Israel, although they sometimes play against a group from the local electric company, but says the electric company players use "impossible kayaks"...must be a translation from Hebrew.
You should be shame of yourself after saying something like that.
Oh, really? Why do you say that? Give us some reasons, please, instead of just talking trash.
Anyone know if the following have women's teams?
Chile
Equador
Colombia
Venezuela
Guatemala
Argentina
Uruguay
Thanks!

Eva

Oh, really? Why do you say that? Give us some reasons, please, instead of just talking trash.
Because I really want a Panamerican Championship with more than 5 teams.
If you want the panamerican's to be smaller than the Brazilian champiosnhip forever, keep discouraging them...
You should think the panamerican as a "training" to the world's, as they do in Europe... Of course nowadays it's not, because it's a very small championship, with few strong countries playing... but if the south america countries get interested, and start hard training, maybe in some years we can have a very strong panamerican championship, with lot's of teams... so, maybe one day we can play equal to europeans, because we will have strong continental championships, as they do...
For us, it is very expensive to go playing in North America either. But if someone says to us that Mexico (for instance) started playing and they wan't to get serious and hold the next championship, I would be very happy, for our sport... happy for some growth in canoe polo in America...
but, if you wan't canoe polo in America to continue being small, let's keep being selfish, and discourage all the other countries, so we can have only Brazil, Canada and US hard playing in our continent.

Mauro,
I couldn't agree with you more about this but the problem is with the decisions made by COPAC, the governing body of canoeing and kayaking in the Americas.
The group does make decisions in a timely fashion in order to allow ANY country in the Americas (South and North) to properly prepare for the continental championships. These particular tournaments should be announced many, many months if not a year ahead of time with dates, locations, etc.
The other problem is that since the Americas are burdened with traveling extreme distances to attend a continental championship that is not held on their continent (South and North America are, after all, separate continents except according to the ICF and the IOC) then perhaps there should be an alternating of championships from South to North and then South, etc.
With the 2007 American Continental Championship being held in Paraguay, two tournaments in a row are being held in South America. In Brazil in 2005 teams from the USA and Canada came down. The only other team outside of the Brazilian squads was a U21 team from Argentina. And now the North Americans are being forced, on short notice, to head to a country that has never attended a continental championship let alone a World Championship. Where is the logic here?
Again, I couldn't agree more with your original quotation at the top.
Thanks,
MAURO

I completely agree with you Patrick... And I understand US and Canada point of view...
I just don't think that we should dicourage new countries on playing.

But it's getting to a point where no new teams are showing interest, and we are discouraging already formed and competitative teams. Yes I fault COPAC as well Patrick.

Paraguay was showing interest... but it looks like they are not anymore... It seens that they quit on doing panamerican's there...
If they really quit, I heard that the championship is going to be held in North America or maybe here in Brazil... But only rumors...
Does anyone knows anything about it?

Your post is a rumor to us in North America! No one here has said anything about the Pan Ams being moved out of Paraguay. We thought everything was snug as a bug down there. So what happened? did no one show interest? Why did they make a bid without knowing even if South American countries could go? By the way, do you or does anyone know what countries had planned to attend the Pan Ams?
