there has been a lot of spamming lately, mostly from those that aren't registered users. could we please put a halt on unregistered users being able to post in forums?

If too restrictive then make the New Zealand forums restrictive to those who are registered users.

cheers,
Cain

I totally agree with Cain. This becomes annoying . Or we can start a new topic "Pharmaceutics for sale" without restrictions

lol, yeah I totally agree they are becoming really annoying. I don't agree with not allowing people to post if they are not regiestered, but i do agree there has to be resitrtions imposed. It's a toughie.

TheMasterG has been away in Amsterdam so when he gets back from there and has the time to do something for this he will. Meanwhile I deleted all the annoying pharmaceutical adds... There were something like 400-500 posts alltogether troughout the forums. I think somekind of software update should do the trick.

Could it be possible to add new Country on top of the list? Something like AaSpammer... :twocents:

I'm also deleting a lot of stuff..

But it's just too much, have to get back to work now.. I'll continue a bit later on.
After the first few I switched to physically deleting, not much use to keep any of this in the db..

G, are you home yet..
Congrats on your results in Amsterdam! far beyond the expected result!
Now back to work :)
Best would be to exclude guests from posting before the end of the day, cause we will probably get another few hundred posts overnight again..

I would say this forum has been rendered useless over the last few days :mad:despite the great effort of the moderators... I wouldn't like to see this eating up loads of time of those most enthusiastic about this great forum and the sport.

I am not sure whether blocking annonmous posts will actually help. I notice that many of the spammers are actually registered...

So therefore I would like to suggest: Character images! For signing up and posting...

I had a similar problem on a simple page I did for my granny www.hamburgaltona.com (http://www.hamburgaltona.com). I added an image with characters which you had to enter for the post to go through... You can generate those images with different letters on the fly but I was to lazy and it still worked... Have a look at http://www.hamburgaltona.com/addguestbook.php to see what I mean... But I don't know whether the forum will alow you to do that...

If we want to stop anonymous posts, I know one argument against this is to allow people to honestly say what they want. Well, two ways around that:
* They can sign up for a second account using some hotmail address or
* You create an account "Anonymous User" and publicise the password (e.g. by sticking it in the signature of that user) so anyone wanting to post anonymously can post using this account.

Anyway, keep up the good work... these are just suggestions... not criticism at all! :)

And death to all spam bots! :thumbdown and diarrhoea to those who write them! :thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown

First thanks to all the mods who've helped to control this, the forums have been blitzed the last few days, just finished clearing them but we're likely to be hit again so I'll be updating the software asap, hopefully tonight, expect some disruption :(

In other news... Amsterdam was wet :p

So image confirmation for unregistered posters and when registring... :)

Well done! I am sure it will help... Let's hope it stops! :)

And the new layout/theme is looking good too! :)
