Photo Forum

I have an idea about a Photo forum. This would be open to all countries and only photos of canoe polo inaction would be allowed. Any pictures that do not show polo as the primary shot should be deleted. Permission to use pictures of other player would be down to the poster to gian, therefore canoepolo.com would not be held responsible. I am sure that there are hundreds or thousands for great action shoots of polo, so why not share them?

I have seen the image gallery, All I need to do now is dig out all the old photo's I have, scan them and load them on up. I know some where I have Irish Open Photos from when we first started using Kilcock as a venue.

A photo forum is a nice idea but it is not without its costs.

The first question that springs to mind is “where are you going to store the photos?” Even at a fairly modest image size, storage soon ramps up. My web site currently has 1,851MB of polo images online. If all of the images people want to share are stored on “canoepolo.com” then that could be quite an overhead for the site.

The second issue is one of bandwidth. Again, using my polo web site as a guideline, serving polo pictures consumes about 5 Gigabytes of bandwidth per month.

Most hosted websites (and I presume “canoepolo.com” is hosted) pay based on their storage requirements and their bandwidth needs… Hosting a large photo forum may well push the costs up.

just get people to use photo bucket and all those random sites, and just referance them on the forum, so all the pictures are stored off site and yeh,

its probably the easiest way i think, not neccessarily the best.

That's great, but how do we upload - I can find the folders but I can't seem to upload - is there a button or something leading to an uploading page?

There was a bug in the software so the upload link wasn't showing, basically you may need to relogin on the Image gallery (http://www.canoepolo.com/gallery) page if you can't see the link - there's a login box there now! :)
