Hi. I'm new to this site and thought it might be the perfect place to ask for help.

I am trying to get some advice on what the best boat is for those of us over the 90kg mark.

I am looking to get back into the sport after a spell out and I have found that I have piled some weight on during my lazy spell. I am sure that I will shift some of the weight, but I also have to be realistic and therefore I am interested in knowing what other bigger boned paddlers would recommend, and where I would get such a craft.

Any help would be most welcome.:)

There are a couple of options for those of us who haven't grown into our bodies yet!

I'm 85kg and paddle a Mystere (Mega), very fast in a straight line but some people have said they are hard to turn. I personally think you just have to learn a slightly different technique. Not sure what the weight limit for it is but I have seen bigger paddlers do well in it.

Apart from that the Raptor (again Mega) will suit you well but I found it slower and a bit tippy especially when shooting hard (although that might just be me!)

Revenge Nitro Fatboy (nice name I know) is a good boat and Dave Brown has just brought out the Flight II again designed for reall men!

Finally the large Vampire should take a bigger payload happily.

Anyway just my :twocents: and something to get you going. I'm sure other suggestions will follow!

DJ77, I am in the same boat, excuse the pun, Rough Stuff have redesigned the Mystere and can easly take the larger paddler. I would be 90 - 100kg(14.5st max) and find the boat perfect. Does everything the old Mystere did, which I paddled for 6 years, but can stay above the water line.

I have looked around for a while and it is hard to get a reasonable second hand boat for the bigger brut. You may find that you will need to get a new boat.
