View Full Version : Boats on Trains
Does anybody have experience taking boats on trains? will they allow you to take them? or would renting a RV or Van be a better choice?

I do know some people who have travelled with poloboats on the Dutch trains.. but if you ask the railway company, they'll tell you it's prohibited. And in rush hour, it might even simply be impossible due to the lack of space..
And the rest of the time, 1 or 2 boats might be possible, but if we're talking about whole teams, it will definately be a problem.

I have asked a while ago and they said the following:
Normally you are allowed to carry luggage that you can put down beneath your seat.
Bigger luggage than that depends on the man with that wisthle (don't know the english name of it ;) ) We once travelled a slalomboat:cool: .

On the www.ns.nl (http://www.ns.nl) i found the following:
Handluggage:
Please make sure your hand luggage does not obstruct other passengers. It should be placed under your seat or in the luggage racks.
Bicycle
Please make sure your (folding) bicycle does not obstruct other passengers. Folding bicycles may be carried free of charge, if they are completely folded. Other bicycles may only be carried during non-peak hours and at an extra charge. They should be parked at the indicated places.
