You know most people that play in HB wouldn't know who you are, even in infamous rouge is hardly paddled any more, although I did see one the other day though. There is heaps of stuff going on in HB but I am just not sure at what levels, where and when.
You should have told them that you are and old school ex-pat :D
Squirt might be able to help you out the do have a National League team
We meet in germany 2002 my wife Jacinda introduced us

Hi Jase,
Figured someone would chime in. What's this 'old' bit?
Be good to get some games in. Seems like polo is in good shape these days ...
Marty
Good to hear from you Marty, I am sure at some stage one of the HB players will post a note other wise send a PM to Alan Neilson. If you are in Wellies at any stage let us know and we could arrange something.
How is the new boat going?
Might catch up with you!

Hey Juno,
New boat is great! Couldn't bring one with me since my route here was a bit awkward.
Have been in touch with Squirt, so look to be getting on the water with those guys tomorrow. Hope they are nice to an 'old' man!
Cheers, Marty
PS I forgot it rained here so much.

hah, no the HB is usually sunny and warm. That rain is result of some freakish weather we've been having lately. try living in auckland, then you'd get bloody rain almost everyday year round
and then there's the westcoast, but we don't talk about that...

Its coming down like cats 'n' dogs round here at the moment!!! Worst I seen in a long time.
All the gear is sorted for you Marty, just hope you don't mind paddling a Cyclone, Hehehe.
There is usually an age limit on the Hawkes Bay team (Under 20 ;) ) but it would be good to get some of your more 'experienced' views and ideas.
A helping hand definately won't be turned away.
I will tell my 'kids' to be nice to the 'old' man.
Squirt.

and then there's the westcoast, but we don't talk about that...I don't think Marty needs any education about NZ weather... [where in NZ haven't you lived or spent a considerable amount of time - you certainly have HB, Auckland and West Coast covered.]
and as far as discussing weather... Marty is a 'Met' scientist and he's probably got a direct link from his watch to a satellite weather station, so don't dig yourself into a hole trying to educate him about our freakish weather - he's a guru on the subject!
I think when Marty is saying he "forgot", he's just conceding his 'old age' and the lapses of memory that go with his geriatric condition! [mind you, I'm only 5 years behind.]
Good to hear you're back home Marty. Are you travelling south at all during your visit?
Cheers

Gidday Troy,
Was in Chch for a day to renew my passport, but had to keep heading north. The aim WAS to stay down there for several weeks, but the forces dictated otherwise. We'll be back in Sept/Oct, maybe for some ww on the West Coast.
Great to see polo in such good shape. Makes me wish I was living here.
Hope the family is well.
Cheers, Marty

Hi There,
Palmerston North is only a couple of hours drive from HB and we have great polo!
If you're after training / games with the guys, week night Vikings training is Tuesdays and Thursdays - in the outdoor lido. We could probably organise you gear too.
Games are at the Freyberg aquatic Centre on MOnday nights from 7pm, but the level isn't that great and its 25m pool.
Cheers

Hi Becks,
I left a message with James thinking that I might head down for a session or two. Waiting for his reply as to when would be best.

[HI Marty,
I was around playing when Marty was around in NZ - a long time ago now. Not really keen to play polo with you but love to catch up, my life now consists off nappies, water babies, kindy help, a bit of teaching, a bit of polo (not enough unfortunately). Got a couple of good HB wines!
