Over the summer months I have been hearing some interesting and exciting news regarding a new polo player maybe moving to Hawkes Bay this year.
Wahoo!!!
And an exciting new format for the National League which will ease the pressure the Hawkes Bay's student wallets.

"The year for the Hawkes Bay Hurricanes to finally break through to that elusive 'top half' of the Men's division!"
Well so I thought :(

Sure enough, the rumors were correct.
But unfortunately it looks as though Wellington may be the team to beat this year.
Tom has sailed north, got lost, and didn't make it all the way home to HB.
Also, I lose my little Blossom to Victoria University and the Knights.
And now Wellington want another one from here (not that they will need him). Hawkes Bay didn't even get a look in.
Just wondering how James and the Vikings missed out on all these opportunities for wheeling and dealing?

Hawkes Bay would like to send an invitation to anybody that would like to transfer and join the Hawkes Bay Canoe Club please send your Polo Curriculum Vitae for consideration.

Lets be honest Squirt if HB had been a bit earlier/better organised these things wouldn't happen. Obviously I did ask a player or two from HB if they didn't have a team that we would find a spot for them. Knights are just better at it?? I hate to see players not play because of lack of opportunity.

Look forward to seeing the Hurricanes once again rise and prove themselves!

Surely you didn't let a European player slip by you that easily James?!?!? Not like you at all.

Big cities need big budgets Jase.
I offer a fun and healthy team environment with top level coaching. No need for any bribery or persuasion round here.
Plus a few milk 'n' cookies here and there for all us kiddies, that keeps us happy too.
It's the smaller regions that you big city folk rely on at the end of the day. :p

I guess that I didn't offer enough shiny things.........and Wellington are probably making it easier to miss trainings??

Shouldn't worry as the great Vikings Polo Factory is churning out a new breed of elite players. I think I will have to plan my retirement to coincide with their ascendency to the top team in the next couple of years........don't want to be dropped. I'm sure that was in the backof the mind of the Expose boys when they went their own way.........didn't want to make me feel bad by dropping me.:wavey:

No apologies necessary Inga.

There is just some underlying heart ache from me thats all ;), with having our opposition living here and wanting some training, but we can sort something out. I could always do with a coach!!!

How bout this for a proposal - I will provide you with all the necessary pool time AND people to train with AND all the required gear. You play for Wellington but help me coach Hawkes Bay and get quality training at the same time.
**And by coach, I mean helping us out, pointing us in the right direction, taking us through some drills, maybe even some tactics here n there - nothing too serious or anything (unless you want to take it serious of course).

Tell you what - If you give it a try I will even throw in a cheap gym membership in HB's newest gym and I will design you programmes personally AND thats for both you and Libby if you would like.
What you think Libby?:twocents:

I will talk to you in Palmy at the lagoon.

Mmmm the Bay starts to sound more and more inviting. Maybe I should convince my boss it is time to setup Gibson Rusden Hawkes Bay or maybe just go out on my own. Time will only tell and on that note I am sure we will see more and more players returning for the great weather and the good life in the bay or even staying there. Keep up all the hard work Squirt you maybe the first of many, I guess it is all about percentages. Sounds like Jase should be in marketing as well, definately put the hard sell on down at South Island Champs.

Jase - does this mean that Welly will be paying a transfer fee for the new imports to the Knights this year!:) - LB
Squirt - being the Gary that you are - the fee would help towards Nat League expenses for HB;)

Yea for sure, but unfortunaly students do not fit the criteria :( this year, however we will continue to lobby our corporate sponsors to include this economically hardened group so at least there parents get some relief.

Sorry LB
