Who will win this div 2 N? place your bets now and we will see come march or whenever the season ends who will win. If you want to vote purely on qualiry team names then feel free to do so, there is the imaginative derby RAMMERS (so called because of their ramming tactics lol? im just guessin or is it 2 do with derby?) then theres my personal fave Kingston Krakens haha what a name! Good work people!

Hi,

Judging that we are in joint top position (as of now!) and we have four votes, one of which is me.

Maybe the others are Hoodie, Maino and The Bungster?

If all the teams do this, biggest squad size wins.

For my :twocents: though. Hull played some excellent "sexy polo" on Saturday night, but failed to hit the back of the net enough times to really be considered D1 material just yet. I felt that if they can become a little more clinical, it's theirs' to lose.

Manachester - great first tournament, lousy 2nd. Maybe a bit dependent upon 1 (missing on Sat night) player, aka, Mr Brown.

Rammers B - beat us with a very negative game, 4 man zone, etc. Effective but a little dull perhaps? Could have a good season though.

who else wa there???

FOA - seemed a lot calmer than last year, but also looked like a couple of players were out of position and they do miss the aggression!

Krakens - surprisingly very good on Sat. We only just beat 'em and they still have (IMO) their best player to come back yet.

The mighty Selkirk Toon played well and solid on Saturday. With a couple of players sick or injured, expect a hammering next time you meet them. Oh yes, indeedy!

Bye

You should be focusing on the second place for a pole rather than first after the results of the first tournament!

I think that the last tournament for the div 2 North will be excelent with a number of team in contention for that 2nd place an the final place for the play-off up for grabs i think it will be one of the best i will have played in an also an excelent one to watch as a neutral spectator as well with some high quality games a definate!

The poll is now closed and only the final tournament (which I believe is next week) can reveal the results. Hull Mariners are clear favourites and with just 1 point dropped so far look set to claim the title and a playoff spot! The new question is what about 2nd place?

Have Manchester A done enough? It is out of their hands now anyway!

Derby Rammers A have 3 games to play and the experience to make them count but they have also slipped up already a few times this season: particularly at the start. Selkirk Toon have already felt their wrath however: loosing 8-2 earlier in the season

Do FOA Y have an outside chance? 4 games to play and some inconsistent results so far but the only side to take draw with Hull and their 5-1 victory agaisnt Manchester may just inspire them!!

What about Selkirk? Is it even possible???

And of course the relegation issue: who will follow Kingston Krakens into Div 3? :o :o

Have Derby Rammers B done enough to stay up in their first season? It looks like they have  but you can never be too sure

What about the other newly promoted team: White Rose?? Some tough games for them including a crunch match with Selkirk Toon which could make or break them!! :p

Selkirk Toon are currently in a spot of bother but they have been here before and have the experience and the know how! They will hope for better results agaisnt Derby A and Hull then last time!! And their games with White Rose and FOA will be crucial!!!

And will FOA get dragged into the dogfight?? With one eye looking upwards will they even be considering the prospect of going down????;)

ALL WILL BE REVEALED NEXT WEEK

After what was an extremely competitive season, last nights tournament finalised a number of issues.

Firstly, congratulations to Hull Mariners for a convincing win of the league and to Derby Rammers A for a second place finish. As a result both of these teams are entitled to attend the play-offs and I wish them the best of luck in these.

Secondly, and more solemnly Selkirk Toon were confirmed as the second last finishers in the league and will join Kingston Krakens in being relegated to division 3 for next season.

Obviously as my team has been relegated I will not be organising Div 2 North next season, so could anyone interested in this position please contact Ian Westwood on ian.westwood@canoepolo.org.uk to express their interest.

Cheers

Ian

1 point between 2nd, 3rd and 4th and 3 points between 5th, 6th and 7th shows how tight the league has been with only Hull (unbeaten all season) and Kingston (no wins all season) out on their own. Looks exciting!
