Here is a email I just got from Keegan. I am trying to find out of if the Innisfail event is on Saturday and Sunday or just Sunday.

From Keegan
Hi all,
Sorry I've been pretty quiet lately. (Been away. Emails may have bounced
from my spam-stuffed inbox.)

Congrats to all back from Europe!

Cottonwood has decided it would be cool to squeeze in an October polo event.
We will host it on a big, clean dugout by Innisfail on the Thanksgiving
long weekend. We will likely have 2 pitches (lots of games!), and cost of
entry will include (delicious) Turkey dinner on Sunday night. Dan's big,
heated tents will be set up and toasty!

We will proabably wrap up on Sunday eve (after the dinner), so people can
get home on Monday.

We will probably go ahead with this as a local event, even if not too many
others are able to make it on this short notice (and so soon after return
from Europe) BUT... it would be great to see you all, and should be a lot
of fun, and a good kick-off to our winter season!

No need to pre-register, but we would like to have a good idea how many to
plan for, so if you can let me know how many folks and what equipment (if
any) you can bring that would be great! If mail to this addy bounces, you
can email my work: ksmith@eba.ca. Note .ca, not .com.

Thanks much, hope to see many of you at our
super-thanksgiving-polo-extravaganza!

Keegan

PS: EWP: if anyone is able to bring equipment, we can pay for your gas, as
usual. thanks.

Thank you for asking Rob,
I will give a proper/ full detail email soon. Certainly we can plan things to be convenient for anyone who would like to come. We were thinking we would play on Saturday as well as on Sunday. Saturday could be arranged to start later (noonish) for anyone who was driving, and Sunday will wrap up mid-late afternoon to allow time for dinner and some driving. This should give time for lots of games. There has also been some interest in a river trip on Monday, for anyone who wished. The upper Red (a bit boney this time of year, I think) or the Brierlies are fairly near by. Of course, friday night is also open to paddling, but night and cold come fairly quickly!

We are looking into renting the Cottonwood hall for the weekend (could be a lot of fun - it is spacious and warm, with kitchen, washrooms, etc. Anyone have a few good kayaking videos?), but at very least there will be camping and billets made available.

Thanks all, I will post this on canoepolo.com as well. Feel free to contact me with any other questions (and to tell me you'd like to come!), hope to hear from you!

Hello all,
I was just out looking at the venue for our tournament, and it is truly a beautiful place for it! (We're not on the lagoon this time - Dan G. will post some pics for ya'll.) The fall colors in the Red Deer River Valley are just turning a humble shade of fantastic; crisp autumn air fills your lungs with vigor; the water is smooth and clear... This could be your last chance for a fun outdoor tournament before heading back to stagnant chlorine pools for the winter!

Here are some details we are working on: (let me know if anything could appeal to you more, we still can alter things...)(within reason..)(...please no more requests for hot-tubs and hot-tub- babes...)

-Two full size pitches will be set up, so games will be played 5on5. Balanced tournament teams will be created upon arrival, but we will also make room for some more competitive (non-tournament) games. (With 2 pitches and 2 days, there should be LOTS of room for games.)

-We can play on both Saturday and Sunday, say, 10:30 - 5:00 on Sat, and 10-3:30 on Sunday. Thanks-givin' dinner will be served on Sunday (inlcuded in your entry fee), and we will try to start it around the time the games end, so you can put on some miles Sunday night, if you choose.

-We will have 2 or 3 large tents on site to provide heat, shelter, and a cooking area.

-Camping is available right on site, and Dan Groenveld has offered his basement (10 mins away) for anyone not wishing to camp outside. Other billets may be available if requested.

-A chance to play, have fun, get a little competitive, get a little relaxation... I hope you are all excited about this last chance for a super outdoor polo weekend!

Thanks, more details to be released soon...
Keegan

PS: dress warm. bring a paddling jacket.

Well, response so far has not been overwhelming!
Someone suggested it might just be Keegan paddling around by himself in a half-frozen lagoon... OF COURSE NOT. I happen to have a hot-link to the weather-man, and he's fixing up some sun for us.
Gee... I remember back in my SLALOM days doing a camp on X-mas holidays... on the Kan.

Anyway, I digress IMPORTANT:
We have decided, especially in light of the fact that a few people may be driving quite a distance to get here, that we must have a MINIMUM of 20 people confirmed as coming, or we will postpone for another time. The deadline for this is THURSDAY 11pm, when I will post here how many confirmed entries we have. I hope this will help out-of-towners decide whether or not the trip is worth it, and give time to change plans if necessary.

Other notes:
- free hot chocolate all day to participants
- the Red Deer College is doing a theater production on both Fri and Sat nights. From what I know, it will be top-notch. If this might be something you would like to do during the evening, I can get you more info, or you can call ticketmaster for tickets.
-of course, you could always just watch movies in my basement too.
-SOOOO,... let me know if you are interested in coming, it will be a blast, see ya'll here!

Well folks,
I've made an effort to phone-confirm with members of our club, and haven't gotten too much correspondance from elsewhere, so it is likely that this event will not be a go this time. (Calum will post the final word on Thurs night, as promised), Thanks to those who offered to help. We will try again next year, with some more notice and more advertising! I won't garuntee any more warmth though! (it's really not that cold here yet...

Anyway, see ya'll soon, IF YOU ARE STILL INTERESTED send a message my way mrkeeg@hotmail.com, and check back tomorrow night! Best wishes for Thanksgivin' !

Hey folks,

Just to confirm, the event is definitely not on.

Keegan asked me to post this if we hadn't gotten any affirmative response yet.

But on another note, you should all come see RDC's first theatre production of the year, "Good night Desdemona, (Good morning Juliet)"

Bonjour,
Calum
