Could someone inform me how u fix polo goals in a pool. At the minute we have a pool with 2 steel wires to hold nets for water polo. Would this do for polo nets? How to they fix to these?

Just want to check b4 we invest in a pair

Any help much appreciated

depends on the strength of the wire and the weight of the goals.

at the Easterhouse and Kirckaldy pool we used to hang the goals up with rope going through some eyes in the wall and the you just pull them up.
At Glenrothes we have a couple of frames that we have rigged up that get secured to the pillar of the diving board at one end and the safety rail at the other then use ropes to tye the goals on.

Rosyth is the same we put them up with rope strung accross the pool from baclony to balcony.

We have goals suspended from ropes fixed on one side of the pool and running through a small pully and cleated at the other side.

Goal wise, they need to be light as the pully/attachment is not the strongest but ours are made from plastic waste pipe (the white stuff you use for sink drainage) with small right angle aluminium brackets to reinforce the corners.

They do swing a bit as they are only held at the top but they do for training.

PS They are also obviously very cheap, much like the University of london ladies!!! (It's alright, they hardly ever check here!)

We use aluminium goals and hang the goals with a steel wire which goes treu eyes in the wall, on the other side we secure the goals on the balcony.
If you want to stop the goal from swinging you can connect ropes on the left and right bottom corners of the goal and attach these ropes in the corners of the swimming pool.

If we have a tournament we also use our other goals which are heavier than our aluminum goals, also no problem.

The ULU system works well - it's quick and easy. At battersea we have a more convoluted approach involving knots and ropes, balconies and diving boards.

I think that the approach you take depends on how much control you have over the pool. ULU play at the university pool, so obviously got permission to drill holes and things. We play at a public pool so have to be more careful!

I'm thinking of getting a whole load of carabinas (is that how you spell it?) for quicker fixing - putting up the goals takes far too long!
