Folks

The Carrick-on-Shannon competition will be held on the 4/5th June as per schedule.

I am adding a 4th division this year as people have requested a Novice division. Carrick will therefore consist of Div 1, Div 2, Div3 and Novice. If not enough teams enter Div 3 and Novice then these two divisions will be combined.

Please find the entry forms attached.

The National League has been cancelled as we have had only 5 teams enter in total. There was not enought entries in anyone division to run the national league.

Each competition shall be run as individual events.

I'm just wondering how the entries are.

WWW are now recruiting. 2 players min. required.
In order to balance the team, we are looking for fast moving, fast shooting, not so old (like the rest of us) and not too small (like me).

How long are the halves of each match going to be?

It seems like Super Newbies are playing at 10.20 on both pitches. I know they're super but I don't think they're that super!

Also, Demons are playing Mohawks twice while Muppets don't get to play Demons at all.

Games are 8 minutes each as per usual.

Is there no chance of upping it to the international standard of 10 minutes a side? I can understand for pool competitions where there might be a time restriction, but it doesnt get dark until late in the summer.

Mike, You're obviously fit and don't figure on doing anything else apart from playing.

Mike

I have had to change some of the divisions into leagues to fit in the times as it is. To increase the games to 10 minutes will add over 2 hours unto the timetable and that is only for Div 1. I could maybe reduce your number of games but I think you would prefer more games.

In previous competitions we have had problems getting people to play the 6.00 games never mind an 8 o clock game. And with Ireland playing Israel at 7.00pm on Saturday night I think most people will be away to that.

Remember last time I arranged for us to watch the game in the Bush Hotel at 7.00 in the morning.

I may make the finals 10 minutes on the Sunday. Most people like to head home early on a Sunday.

Folks

Please find attached the new timetable for Carrick.

Sharks pulled out of Div 2 so this meant a complete rehash of the timetables. This give more games to Div 2 players but meant more time on the schedule.

I have also added referees and duty teams to the timetable. Generally you will be refereeing the game in your league after the one you have played.

Also I have added some general rules to the timetable to aid with the competition.

Good luck to one and all and enjoy the competition.

P.S. Just discovered the festival is back on again this year, after being cancelled last year. Also Rocking Robins is open again and run by the Landmark Hotel. So there may not be a disco there. I hope you are all lookign forward to trying the Booze Cruise on the Moonriver. I have it earmarked for Sunday night. Enjoy.

Adrian, you need to check your schedule again. You have Muppets down to play, ref and do duty at 11am
Scrambled Eggs to play and duty at 11:20

Also, why change from the normal rules about which team changes colour if there is a clash? In the ICF rules, it is the first named team that changes colour.

any chance you could put headers on the columns

This was game 29 and seemed to have vanished from the timetable. I have added the game in again. i.e. 9.00am Sunday.

Will be on printed sheet. Do not want to post another timetable and use up space.

Webmaster can you remove the older timetables.

Adrian, thanks for all your efforts in organising and running the Carrick competition. Despite running late, it was very enjoyable with some great matches (especially Div2).:wavey:

Thanks to all the people who helped over the weekend. I have organised this competition and tried running it myself over the last 4 years and it takes a lot of work. Especially on the day.

This year saw the pitches changed and the introduction of floating goals (thanks to the Blessington Centre). It did decrease the setup and pull down times.

Games did run late but I try to cater for a lot of teams. Will post a poll asking the following:
1) Do people think the game times should be 10 minutes long, with 30 miutes allowed for each game. This would decrease the number of games available.
2) Would people like the number of teams reduced
3) Would people lbe willing to start at 8.00am and continue until 8.00pm.
