Hi Everyone:wavey:

I have played canoepolo for about 10 months now, but I would really like to get a little better at the tactical aspect of this very nice game + learn some new skills

Is there any books, videos, homepages, personal tricks ect. that can help you get a little smarter???

I have played handball and volleyball before and there we had systems, zone defence and such wich helped you understand your role in a given situation.

Furthermore tricks about "shaking of" an apponant, defending the ball or an ABC on how to do for ex:"Sturn-turns" is more than welcome :D

I would be very thankfull if any of you can help me!!!

When defending an attacking opponent, watch their body movement and always get in their way(when they have the possesion of the ball) of where they want to go. Always be aware that they might be going to pass or shoot as well. A lot of times your opponent will fake like he's going one way and then goes the other way. A good way they do this is getting you to pay too much attention to the ball and not to where they want to go.

Getting away from your opponent, if he's just marking you(your not in possesion of the ball) is to act slow/useless. Use weak paddle strokes and then at the time you want to go, just haul ass and he'll be caught by surspise. Practice getting good acceleration and you'll be really good at this. Another way is to your teammates. Paddle near your teammates and when your opponent gets caught up in the crowd of people, your free. When you have possesion of the ball, a thing I've done a lot of is playing one on one and that teachs you an opponents faults and what they think. Try baiting them. Be careful though, sometimes they can get it if you push the limits. Last thing is have patience.....in all situations. Also your love for the game, if your very passionate about this sport, you'll turn into a great player.:twocents:
