I hate in when I type an entire message finding out I was on a unregisted and then loosing the message:mad:
OK one more time:
Chris can provide the details however I have a idea of the general number of teams but no idea of which age or competition catagories they will be in: Teams from Canada ~4-6, Teams from USA ~2-4, Japan 1, Iran 1, South Africa 1.
So keep those teams coming in and it will be even a better event.
Other things that are in the works around this event:
- Central Alberta Whitewater tour.
- The Canadian Nationals will in all likelyhood be moved to Edmonton to help promote the masters games due to the moving......of the PanAmerican Canoe Polo Championships to Brazil. The nats will have catagories to allow non canadian teams to complete.

Is Whitewater tour going to take place on weekdays between Nationals and Masters? Do you have any info on it somewhere?

This is a very new developement, but I am sure that the Edmonton Whitewater Paddlers would do it in central alberta on Rivers like: North Sasketchewan Brielies section, Red Deer River, etc.
I will try and get EWP to firm this up.

I spoke to the Edmonton Whitewater Paddlers who are the oganizers of both the 2005 Canadian Nationals July 18,19, in Edmonton and the organizers fo the 2005 World Masters Games (Canoe Polo event starting on July 22-26).
They had advised that they will not have time to organize a whitewater trip since they are not doing both events and since both events have been moved closer together to accomodate visting teams.
I will ask them to post an update on this site with regards to the number of teams entered in the World Masters Games.

2005 World Masters Games Surpasses Target of 16,000 Athletes
Still Two Weeks to Final Registration Close
– May 20
Edmonton, Alberta – As of today, more than 16,000 athletes have registered for the Edmonton 2005 World Masters Games and organizers expect that number to continue to grow until the final registration close on May 20.
“Based on previous Games, and the size and capacity of the Alberta capital region, we set a target to have at least 16,000 athletes register,” said Barry Anderson, Games Executive Director. “We’re delighted to have reached this goal with still two weeks left to the registration deadline. Other games have seen a flood of thousands of entries right near the registration close. In a couple of weeks we will know just how many people will be gathering in Edmonton this July for the largest international multi-sport event in the world.”
To date athletes are coming from 70 countries. Currently, international registration is approaching 40 per cent.
“Some sports are filling up,” added Anderson. “There’s no time to wait to register. We like to say you’re never too old … but you might be too late.” All athletes registered for the Games by May 20th are entered for chance to win a trip to the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games. The trip includes airfare, hotel and two paid athlete registrations.
The 6th World Masters Games will be held in the Edmonton area from July 22-31. It will be the largest World Masters Games held in North America. Recreational and elite athletes 25 years of age and up can choose to compete in 27 sports. Passion qualifies you. The Games offers 10 days of world-class sport competition, and social and cultural festivities that celebrate sport for life.
