My vote is for the Mega VelociT
I use a Raptor for Training, but this is my choice of wepon for competition.
It's fast, very easy to turn and great front end control. I'm pretty tall and don't fall in much when paddling a VelociT.
If you have a problem with stability, try uni-cycling. Worked for me :)
Durability - same for any boat. If you set youself up for being T-Boned your boat gets trashed. This of course has in some-part to do with the mentality of your opponents but also down to the paddler themselves.
Learn better boat skills and don't keep looking at your cockpit when you paddle and you can see a lot more coming and therefore prolong the life of any boat !

I think there are two things to consider to decide the best boat design and Construction.
From what i've seen there are some manufacturers who have a great build quality, but the designs they build aren't so great.
Others have great designs, but use weker cheaper resin systems and cut costs on materials either by using offcuts put together to make whole layers or random strand glass to thicken the laminate up. When you buy the boat it's nice and solid, but that quickly goes after a few hits.
I gues you've also got to consider the costs. you could probably just about get two of the lower standard boats for the price of one prepreg.

My vote would be for the Kayaks Plus Vampire series.
I have paddled a number of boats made in different countries and by different manufacturers and have found these boats to be the most durable so far. I also find that they are quick and have great nose and tail control.

if you are looking for the boat in terms of being strong.... no one can beat a boat built here in canada by a company called OBECO. they have many diffrent modles and all are very very strong. any one that has paddled one has to agree.
