I have recently come across from Australia and am looking for a club to train with in London. I heard Meridien hammered Deventer in a competition in Portugal, Have meridien dethroned Deventer as the best team.I would like to learn from the best, so how do i contact the team??. Is Curly Barker the man to contact as i have heard he is the backbone of the team.

London is a big place and Meridian are a long way out from the centre.
If you are without transport you may find that Clapham may suit you, although we are not as high a standard as Meridian. We are easily accessed from the centre of London as we are on the tube. We have several international travellers who play with us, including some players who have played at international level, (S. Africa, Namibia, Argentina , etc).

Paddy is quite right here.
Location Location Location.
London is no village particularly for a country bunkin.
Anyway, Clapham is south of central london.
Meridian is South East of central London and easily accessible by Main line train from Charing Cross to Erith which is only a 5 min walk to the pool.
There is also Battasea again more in the south and in the centre, probably the most organised is ULU (University London Union).
As Paddy says, Meridian are the highest level of club with various teams and some structured - particularly for the kids, but logistically most of our overseas visitors do not seriously consider traveling times from central london to Meridian's sessions.
The best prepaired travellers always make the best of the situation before them.
Clyde
PS, I wouldn't do Deventer any injustice by assuming they are ready to play dead just yet.
Both Meridian and Deventer are two very tallented teams, but then, so too is Liblar who are well justified in many finals !

Clyde's right, it does sometimes depend where you are living. Battersea train at Putney, which is good for South West London - We find that quite a few antipodeans end up coming through as we are well placed for the ghettoes of Fulham, Earls Court etc.
However, if you are looking to play at Meridian A team level then that cuts down the number of teams around. We're in Div 3, Clapham are Div 3 as well I think. Meridian and St Albans have teams across the entire range of abilities which is also handy.
Let us know where you live and we can chip in with even more advice!
