Just wondering if we know where the Atahua Comp is going to be held next year?

Atahua 2005 will be held over the week-end of the 5/6th February.

With regards to the venue we will be holding it either right in Palmerston North at the Lagoon, which has been recently dredged (helping the water quality significantly)

or just 15mins out of Palmerston North on one of the Vikings Farms (this is a lot closer than the original Atahua Site). We are just waiting for some water quality tests to arrive before we make any decisions.

Keep your eye on this forum over the coming weeks for confirmation of the event details.

Thank you

Hey Jim,

One of the main attractions of this comp is the social side. Is there any plans this year?

James

Yes well due to unplanned circumstances we are forced to hold the Competition in town this year. I am sure that we will see various "events" taking place on the saturday night......but because of Atahua being on public land we can't endorse similar activities as previous years.

Having the competition in town will have a few added advantages:

easy access to competition site
great access for spectators, especially the general public.
plenty of entertainment options for those inclined
Thanks

James

So James are we playing centreline or goaline restarts.

Why don't you approach one of the old watering holes in Palmy and suss out a place where like minded individuals can quench their thirst for a discounted price of coarse.

The intention is to still hold the Atahua Cup in the Lagoon. By moving out the court a further few meters the whole court never gets any shallower than 1m, with most being 1.5 meters deep. We are monitoring the situation on a daily basis. Not often do we pray for rain in Palmerston North.

Well James you jinxed our great weather in Wellies and it is a typical rainy day in the capital. Hope you are getting it up your way for the lagoon levels to rise, or just get intouch with the locals around the waters edge and get them to run their hoses down and fill it up.

Couple of important rules:

Respect other users in the Lagoon and the neighbours. Please keep the domain round the lagoon clean.
Do your duty/ refereeing: If I have to get you then it's 3 point off your points (no joke), or you fail to turn up!
Duty is scoretable and two referees. If you need better qualified referees, it's your responsibility to find them!
No Pay/ No play........Black and white.
Competition rules:

Current 2005 rules as per the NZCPA site, centre-line restarts.
3 points for a win , 2 draw, 1 loss, 0 for a default. (tied teams separated by winner of game between teams, goals for, goals against, coin toss!).
All play off games must have a result. Extra time is 3mins each way of sudden death, then penalty shoot-out if still a draw.
One side reffed from the water, other side from the land. use your own boat or the supplied plastic one
Disputes: resolved by me (and others if necessary)

Sorry...my humour is obviously misunderstood.

I met Paul in both Germany and Japan and was simply making fun of him.

Paul...if you ever log on to this forum...are you still bitter about not getting the 'beer' vest?
