I loved your summary of men's games, but I have been looking for the women's results. Where did you find the game scores? I can seem to find anything on the official Essen site (even when I try to struggle through the German section).

I only posted this a couple of minutes ago!! You might check you got the very latest version (no mistakes, just clean up).
I've got some work to do, but I'll do the women's league tables in a couple of hours or so - depending.
To find the REsults on the World Champs site, you have to first guess that they are listed as the "Schedule of Matches"Click here (http://www.kanupolo-wm2002.de/Spielplan/navigation.htm)
Well done on the tables. You should ask the germans for a job. There website is very bad and should be updated with tables after each match. Keep up the good work

Thanks for the feedback.
I just worked out I have been doing Canoe Polo results and League Tables (more automated than this one) for around 19 years now!!!
and it never ceases to amaze me how organisers can stuff up a draw so much. Quite a few teams have played 3 games already, and may already be well and truly doomed. While other teams in the same class haven't even played their first game !!! Go figure that one!!

For the last 1/2 hour as of 8 pm Mountain Standard Time the worlds website is not working. This is not very good. I have pointed Canadian Media towards this site and how am I supposed to do press releases and promote this sport? Frustrating.:thumbdown

I think that is part of the problem with promoting this sport. You can only do so much but since everyone has a couple of jobs other than to play, we lose out somewhere. I am sure the media if interested will check back or will only be interested in the end result anyway.
Speaking of that, I know a press guy who could do with a bit of sport. What did you put together for them. Mail it to me at zuppypost@utvinternet.com if you prefer not to block the forum. Thanks

Even for me - just sitting in my office 500 m away from the Grugabad (where the chmponships take place) - it's frustrating to see, how bad the website is.
Today I found the canoepolo.com website - and it's great.
The german polo-players are good in the game - but bad in internet-things !
So I will return to the games after work and see it live- Thats the best.

Hi Niall,
t's not me - it's my son, who play's polo. I'm just watching and doing all the things parents have to do.
He's only 13 and dreams of becoming a great player.
I watched the opening ceremony and the Irish-Team and the fans were great !! (My son wa scarrying the sign of the italien team).
Our Club is the KG Wanderfalke in Essen and I just know some of the german players of the U21 women and men.
Maybe we'll come to the European championchips in Ireland next year !

For those who couldn't get todays results, they are up and running again. Or try http://www.kanupolo-wm2002.de/Spielplan/navigation.htm#Tuesday
Emerson - If your son is starting young he should be very good someday soon. I paddled with the Godesburger Kanu Club in Bonn for a couple of years. Leider hatten die kein kanu polo mannschaft, aber so ist das leben.

You are right about having the too many jobs for polo. I am working for my local club, the provincial federation and the Canadian Federation as well as trying to maintain some level of fitness and skill to keep playing good polo. For most mature polo people in Canada they are in the same situation. But we carry on cause we love the game.
With regards to press support. I live in a city of 35,000 people. We get great press support since many of the Canada polo people come from here and we are big news in a small town. On the provincial and national scene we complete with the big 5 (baseball, basketball, hockey, football and golf). If is hard to get recognition when you get lost in the big sports. I presonally believe that for us we need to develope local media contacts on each area that polo is strong and build on that. It is working for us.
In any case I still could not get on the worlds site but will keep on trying.
Best Regards,
RK

Niall,
Just tried your link to today's results and still receiving "Error" messages. I can't access anything from the Worlds site. Are others having this difficulty?
