Hey Vish,
I use State and have my boat as a named item on my contents insurance, which is the policy where it is insured anywhere in the world or maybe just New Zealand.

There is a company that insures your kayak as a recreational boat and there policy as checked many times my the policy owner covers them for damage, yes all cracks are covered silly but it is in the policy.

ours are covered with AMI as 'windsurfers' as that was the best that we could do... each kayak costs about $5.25 a month for national coverage!

Hey guys,

Mine is now covered with State. It's only National, not international- I checked! I had to get it with Contents Insurance but then I got Contents insurance in the first place because I got fed up hearing about boats being stolen. Then I found I had insurance that didn't cover my pride and joy!!!

By the way, this has come about since I woke up at 1am the night we arrived for our training camp in Palmerston North, and disrupted 10 people trying to steal boats off about three cars..

I had my boat covered with State - after having 2 stolen they cancelled my policy - on the basis that I was clearly negligent in looking after my belongings - ie; leaving boat on trailer or roof while at competitions.

Jose - you have a baad as friend to join your club - Alana who has also had two boats stolen.:D

I am insured with State - contents, kayaks including ALL their associated equipment e.g. paddle, boat bag etc for $2800. Oh yes, also Jac's boat too from when I previously had a 'financial interest' in it.
