Just heard after the event that the squad sessions for Womens National Team started up again last weekend. Just wondering why it was not advertised here?? Or is it invitational?

Surely open squad sessions are the best way to discover the best talent for our national team?

(Speaking as a div 3 player with no aspirations to ever be on the national squad)

The womens squad can't have started up again. The phoenix club in Cork has recieved no notice of this? I was just talking to some of the other committee members and I am the Polo officer so none of my people heard.

And since I brought the lack of squads (esp women's) notice up at the 2003 AGM when I was the NI womens squad trainer, I was promised that this problem would be sorted.

There was a group of Ladies training on Saturday and Sunday last.
The trainer was Mark. ( I did not use the word Coach )

No 1:
I personally apologise for the lack of formal notification. We did meet as a pre-squad weekend (technically correct). We intended to invite all and like wise extend an invite to any i ntersted parties for a similar weekend in january 11 and 12.

Technically there can be no squad until a management team is appointed. But interested parties have continued training to improve our countries chances next year.

We ommited to formally appoint any one to publise the weekend. And relied on a word of mouth. We were pleased to see several new faces and some old ones returning. We are in a good possition to select a squad next year.

If any one would like to join us please speak up and make suggestions of suitable players so we can invite them along too

Polo is starting to become a really painfully politically tainted sport - no one can do anything without someone complaining -that corect procedure was not used, or somone was not notified.
Please - we are all trying to do our best. Lets stop attatcking each other and accept the appology for no public notice last week

written personally, but hope i reflect the opinions of woman's players.

It is not politic's to request that if the squads start up that some form of notice is given.

That said and done, I re read my post and it was not meant in a harsh way (as may appear), just as more of a sigh tone (looked that one up in a book with lots of words). :) Is it not the responsiblity of the committee to do the ould bit of PR?

Folks

When a management committee for the squads is selected the teams work outside the committee and only let the committee knows what they are doing.

Once a squad committee is selected the National committee will gather the dates for the squad sessions and we will get these up on canoepolo.ie. (We will work to keep this site updated throughout the year).

We were not aware of the womens session until the last minute as it was a pre season session arranged by the women themselves.

Let us all work together to ensure that we can work constructively to build this sport into a world class arena.

Any suggestions on development will also be taken on board by the committee.

Nobody is complaining or attacking anybody. I have learnt from personally being on varoius commitees that not everybody can be satisfied, however being open to critism and listening to different views only helps to solve problems not create them.

Correct procedure is important so people know where they stand. You can't break teh rules if you don't know what they are;)

Publicicy should be the first thing people think of when anything is happening - everybody is happier when they know what is going on.
