Looking at Div. 3 entries

Sharks(IRL) and Demons(IRL) are on the list and they came 1st and 2nd in DIV. 1 at Cork comp.

Is that fair???

Is that the same sharks that played in Div 2 in teh DCPL last year too?

Demons are in Div 2.

The level of teams entering the Irish Open tends to be a slightly higher level than the irish div 2/3. This might be why Sharks have applied for Div 3. This is up to the organiser to decide whether they should be placed in Div 2 or not

[QUOTE] [The level of teams entering the Irish Open tends to be a slightly higher level than the irish div 2/3. /QUOTE]
just a suggestion.....to accomodate weaker teams who are keen to play in the competition and as there are 12 teams entered in Div 3 - would there be any possibility of splitting the division and making a Div 4??? Maybe the 4 or 6 weaker teams could play each other????

The Sharks that won DCPL last year are now partially in the Demons Team and Kilcock in Div 1. we (Last years Demons and Sharks) are playing in Kilcocks Div1 and Div2 Teams.

It is also the duty of any particular club to enter their teams into a division of an appropriate standard.
In the past the Irish open used to have a higher standard compared to our nationals leagues but I don't think this is the case anymore. The standard of polo has increased in Ireland and I think it is a copout to enter a div lower in the Irish open than you would normally play in during the Nat Leauges comps. I hope teams aren't entering a lower division just to get some medals? What does this actually achieve?

Wahey conor, go on bite them in the ear! I agree, even if ya get pummelled into the ground in div 2 at least you'll be learning something and your team will come out stronger for it. I've always thought (cos people have told me) that playin a div below your standard is only going to slow your teams improvement. Thats why we're always gettin whooped, not cos we suck and don't train its because we're tryin to improve. Honest!

Maire has confirmed to me that the Sharks team enterd in Div 3 is of appropiate standard and that the better players have moved up to Div. 2.

That sounds fair enough to me :). Thanks to Maire for checking it out so efficiently.

Looking forward to a great competition!

HI

I have been trying to book the dublin swift from holyhead to bring our team over to the irish open. The ferry deal mentioned above applies to return crossing from ireland only! (according to the british office of irish ferries) Why would you need to catch a ferry if you are already in ireland ?! Can anyone shed any light on this.

Try booking online www.irishferries.ie (http://www.irishferries.ie) you can often get good deals that way.

Good luck!
