Hi,
Im doing my fourth years honours project on a social history of canoe polo. I am struggling to find any info on canoe polo history, or the history of the canoe and kayak.
If any one is able to suggest avenues for me to look down this would be appreciated.
I am willing to share my findings with anyone who is interested.
Cheers,
Mich

Try having a look around some of the German polo sites as they had a pretty comprehensive history at Worlds in Essen. Might be worth droping a thread in the German forum as they had it in file format.

As for New Zealand history give Troy a call or talk to him at NL finals as he has been around since the start/started??? polo in New Zealand.

I'm sure the Troy wasn't around when I had my first game of polo in 1978. Ian Russell was the first Polo "commodore" under the old NZCPA. He probably got lots of things started about 20 years ago.
I also remember watching polo games at the lido in 1979. This was played after the first ranking slalom of the season at Labour weekend. It was infamous for the competition to see which team could get the decks off the other team before they did the same back. Paddlers like Greg Bell, Nick Kerkham and the Beech brothers were involved then.
