WWKC OFFICIAL OPENING SAT 17th AUGUST

On behalf of Wild Water Kayak Club, I would like to invite all our friends in the paddling community to come along to our official opening day this Sat, 17th August.

Official Opening is at 2pm, followed by an afternoon of
Polo, Come-and-try it sessions in GP boats, Canadians and Wavehoppers.
There will be face painting and games for the kiddies.

One of the highlights of the afternoon will be the Double-Spud Challenge- A Topo duo slalom being organised by smiley. Contact wwkcnews@fdt.ie or brian_x_coughlan@hotmail.com if you think your club can do the business in a topo duo(sounds a bit bad I know!).

At 4:30 we will have a rescue display, and a very special event will take place at 9pm- you'll have to come along to find out what it is!

There will be a Bar-B-Q at 8pm, followed by a disco and party into the early hours.

We appreciate the support of our friends in the paddling community who have helped us to get this far- Now come along and help us celebrate!!!

Calling all polo paddlers.

WWKC are having a mini polo gig at their official opening with games starting at 2.30pm onwards. Can people please email me---> Adrian.t.barber@intel.com if they are interested in playing.

This will be an opportunity for us to show off our sport.

Wild Water Kayak Club – New Clubhouse Official Opening

Just a word of thanks to our friends in the paddling community who came along on Saturday to celebrate the opening of our new clubhouse. The event was well supported by paddlers from around the country, including DCU, Lir, Cavan, Galway and Inny Kayak clubs ……. The whole day (and night !) was a great success!

The clubhouse was officially opened by Dr. John De Courcey Ireland (Maritime Historian and Commodore of WWKC in the 1960’s)

The highlight of the afternoon was the Double Spud Topo Duo challenge. A challenge with competitors having to use their skill to negotiate upstream and down stream slalom gates. Extra point awarded to teams who managed to roll the topo duo on passing the finish line!

Thanks to Kipper, Dave O’Neill and Maurice Kelleher who put on a spectacular Freestyle Exhibition after dark. Maurice set the record of 36 flat water Ends – well done!!
