The Richmond Plungers & Golden Gate Breakers will again be hosting a kayak polo tournament in conjunction with The Race For Treasure hosted by California Canoe & Kayak. The tournament was a big success last year and we plan to only improve on last year's fun.

The tournament & fun play will be held August 6-8, 2004. The format will be similar to last year's tourney:
Friday afternoon & evening setup and practice play.
Saturday all day tourney and awards dinner
Sunday all day pickup games.

The kayak race will be run at the same time as our tourney on Saturday. The location will be in Jack London Square on the Oakland Estuary.

Last year we had teams from SF, LA, San Diego, Texas and Maryland in two divisions. The hosting team, Golden Gate Breakers won in Division 1 while the ladies of the SoCal SueNamies won Division 2. We even had a junior team. All players are encouraged to sign up whether as individuals or as a team. It would be great to see more cities involved and Canadians or others. An effort is made to even up the teams if possible

The tournament has been hailed as the most watched tourney in US kayak polo history as racers, fans and random shoppers stopped to watch the play from the excellent venue views. Many of the onlookers were forced to watch polo even if they didn't want to watch polo!
