Hi all, many of you know me, but I have recently been elected as Chairman of the BCU Canoe Polo Committee.
We are DEFINATELY sending a Senior Men and Senior Womens team to the World Championships in Japan.
We are NOT sending an U21 Womens team.
For all sorts of obvious reasons we are not sure about Under 21 Men and we want to know in clear terms what other nations are doing.
We do not want to send a team and then find that there are no other teams for them to play against, having spent 10,000+ euros on travel and accommodation.
We do want to attend a serious and meaningful competition.
If you are reading this and able to speak OFFICIALLY for your FEDERATION, please post a reply with what teams you are sending, so that we can all know who is expected to be there. Please do not post "chat" or opinions here, as has happened on Pab's thread, as it makes it impossible to tell exactly what people are saying.
Thank you

Good to see some people confirming definate interest however while it is obvious Japan will enter and hopefully hold a great championship what Asian countries are entering ?
Malaysia ? Thailand ? Hong Kong ? Chinese Taipei ? Singapore ? any others.... surely the rest of the world are not travelling without extra interest from Asian countries as it is much closer............
I believe the entry deadline for Worlds was yesterday. Is there going to be an U21 Mens division or not? Have the minimum number of six teams entered?
How soon do they publish the entries and the draw?
Hi,
We got information that these countries will go to Japan:
Men: Germany, GB, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, France, Schweitz, Portugal, Canada, New Zeeland, Malaysia, Iran, Chinese Tsipei, Hong Kong, Japan and then Sweden (I get it to 16 countries?? but the organization said 17)
Women: Germany, GB, Netherlands, Italy, France, Canada, New Zeeland, Hong Kong, Japan, Ireland and then Sweden (only 11 countries?? and not 13)
U21 Men: Spain, GB, Germany, Italy, Canada, South Africa, Hong Kong, Japan och Chinese Taipei (according to the organization 8 but I get it to 9...).
U21 Women: Germany, Japan och Chinese Taipei (both get 3 countries ;) )
Best Regards
Eva Lindmark

Ciao Eva, i don't know about where did ou find the informations, however I confirm everybody that Italy will decide clearly about Ladies and U21 during next weeks on May, after the torunament in Charleroi.
About your list I don't see Australia (Men and Ladies), USA (Men and Ladies) Ireland and Czech Men.
However, if these will be the numbers, especially for the asian country I'm really sorry...

Hi Donza,
I got this from the Japan Canoe Federation. This was the status the 21th of April which was the final day of the entries. We hope that some countries has asked for extended time (as you might have?).
As I understood it the entry time for U21 Women was extended to th 7th of May depending on that they were only three countries.
Best Regards,
Eva

I think USA women are going.
Ireland women are going.... money permitting....and I would venture a guess that we are not the only country who will only know for sure when the final bills need to be paid and all fund raising is over.
Is there any trueth in the rumour that Canada will host a worlds and that wil be as expensive as Japan and again limit the comp?

Are the Irish men looking at going??
I do hope that at least one of your teams make it across......goodluck with the fundraising!!

From what I hear Canada will be host the 2008 worlds champs.... not too expensive from Ireland!!
As for this being expensive, aren't all world champs expensive (at least to all the travelling teams)? I think that the current system of awarding the Champs alternating between Europe and the rest of the world is currently equitible. Basically for half the canoe polo World, every Worlds is expensive to get too.

Great Britain is now trying to make arrangements for Accommodation and flights for our U21 team. We are aware that a number of nations are in the same situation as ourselves and will send U21 teams if there is a good competition.
We wish very much to support this event, however it is now getting more and more difficult to make arrangements for our teams.
If we can make the necessary arrangements, the British U21 men will attend the Worlds in Japan.
I will post a final definative answer on Monday 17th of May, when we will hope to have flights booked etc

Thanks for the support....wanna buy a raffle ticket....or a t-shirt (only kidding)
The men are planning to be there but can not confirm this on their behalf.
Canada is said to be expensive because it is almost impossible to get the boats to the event... that was what the USA guys were saying from previous experience of travel to canadian comps.

We should probably take this to another thread since Curly wanted this to be kind of focused on who would be at this worlds.
The USA coaches have selected Senior Mens and Senior Women's teams for the Worlds. As far as I know we're planning to send those teams, but I'm not on the committee and can't say anything officially.

entry due date is already over but i heard that the organising committee will consider to still accept the teams should there be any, especially for the ladies youth category.

i wish to appeal to the organiser to allow late entries. WC 2004 pretty expensive and players really do need time to settle their work leave and $$$.
Hope the organiser can extend the dateline by 2 more weeks....so that more teams maybe able to sign up.
thanks....
