To the organizers of Cup of the North 2004.

On behalf of myself, the Vancouver Canoe Polo Club, and canoe polo in BC, thank-you for putting on such a well run tournament.
For some positive re-inforcement, I liked

1) the scheduling of games - blocking them worked well and prevented people from having to be on the pool deck for 13 or 14 hours, which was a big bonus. This is a huge improvement over games at odd times.

2) the fun atmosphere - thats the best way to play canoe polo

3) prizes - thanks to all the sponsors. Personally, I walked away with a prize from Totem - so thanks to them.

4) putting the ladies in with the mens competition. That was good for my teammate's egos.

and of course,

5) that dj with the beard - what taste in music

I'm sorry I missed the banquet (which was awesome last year).

Cheers  ,

I second what Ben said. Thanks to all for coming and making it a good tournament, and thanks to all the folks at EWP who worked to make it happen!

Ben... ya, too bad you guys missed the banquet. You, too, could be sitting here wondering how long it will be before the picture of you posing shirtless at the bar shows up. :barbell: :bang:

Hi Richard, thanks for the question.

We're looking at a few things. We had the pool tentatively booked for April 3, but that is right before Nats. Something I am leaning towards is moving our annual spring 3on3 to the fall, and focusing our efforts on a full-size outdoor tournament (in Red Deer) in the late spring/early summer - maybe 2-4 weeks before the teams depart for Japan.

Any thoughts folks?

Hey Keegan,

Thanks for the info. on the tourneys, but i personaly love tournaments, the more the merrier, so i say as long as it isn't to much trouble, the April 3rd one sounds great even if it is pretty close to the Nationals, and the fall one also sounds great as well, once again as long as it is not to much trouble. besides it would be a nice warm up tourney to have before nationals!! :barbell:

Maybe we should look at the weather first?
I don't know how many of you remember this but at our last indoor tournament we had a snow storm and people couldn't get home, and at our last outdoor tournament (the one nobody showed up for) we got rained on most of the day.

But weather aside, whats everey body doing on Canada day? I think it would be kinda cool to have a tournament at bauer ponds in Reddeer on Canada day, we could have AT LEAST A FEW HUNDRED SPECTATORS and after the tournament stay for the fire works. :headbang:

or maybe that just me talk'n crazy

Ya, we had talked about that before, I think it would be great. (if they gave us permission to). It would be further into summer, which hopefully would mean good weather.

BUT... there is a national team camp scheduled for the fri-sat-sun that week (canada day is thurs) (this could be a good or a bad), and the teams leave for Japan just over 2 weeks later (this could be a good or a bad)

hmmm..

Hey y'all (just keeping in the Texas traditional lingo),

It was great seeing you and playing against you at US Nationals in Austin this past weekend.

I was wondering if you've set a date for the 2005 "Cup of the North".

We here in Los Angeles are scheduled to host two tournaments in the next few months, one on the first weekend of December 2004 (12/4/04-12/5/04) which is tentatively called the "Pacific Coast Championships" and another on Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend, which is in mid January 2005 (1/15/05-1/16/05). We'd love to have you down for one of these events and hope you can make it.

Thanks again,
