I liked the Finnish word for it : "KANOOTTIPOOLO"
(is that the correct spelling? - saw it on Finnish uniforms...)

Hi,
In Spanish is kayakpolo, but in Galician (Nw Spain) it would be kaiakpolo because there is no "y",and in catalonian (Ne Spain) I think is caiacpolo.

The russians call it:
"Канополо"
I don't know if you can read that... if not, it looks kinda like:
"KaHonolo".
Basically it sounds like oure canoe polo, or Dutch Kanopolo.
However, strangely enough when some of them speak in English to me, they call it "Canoe"... (actually "canu"... ;-).
kinda funny... they leave out the polo part when speaking in english!!!

rob, i think that guy from usa - albert - already said it in "english"........

In American-lish it is called "Kayak Polo" - 'coz a canoe is something that the American Indians paddled (an open canoe), and is very different to a kayak.
So, since Canoe Polo would generate a very different image to people in the US, we call is Kayak Polo here, which is descriptively more appropriate ...

It becomes a real pain when explaining the sport to people.
"Yeah I know it's called Canoe Polo, but believe me it's played in kayaks!!"
People invision players in 18 foot canoes in a pool fighting over a ball.......That would be funny to see though!!

In Malaysia - Canoe Polo or kayak polo and now in new spelling 'Kanu Polo".. anyway either the word kayak or canoe it still played in kayak.
correct me if I'm wrong, "Canoe" is an international name or like family name for any water transportation which using a paddling technique to move. ;)
Do you play a lot in Malaysia??? are you fielding a team to Japan?
