Any deviation from the rules, regarding the sex of the player, be they be one of the regular players or a substitute, I believe could be presented to the Captains's meeting before a Tournament begins.
In that way, all teams we be able to evaluate this situation and then decide to accept the ladies or not.
It is a totally different matter to find the girls out in boats during the heat of a match, as we did.
In any case I always try to keep to the rules, and would never considering of "turning a blind eye" to suit my convenience. No insult intended.

Now if the sport was a game of rugby, then I don't think that any of you guys would worry if one of the other team members were of the opposite six, would you?

Just as a matter of consistency, you have already mentioned presenting this problem to a captains meeting and seeing if anyone has a problem about it. It too late then.

There is no point in somone paying money to get somewhere to find out they then can not play.

If it's an ICF rated competition, then Women will not be allowed to play with or against men. Simple.

Any other, the teams concerned should contact the organisers as ask them specifically as they are the ones who decide, not a bunch of people who happen to be out of bed in time to attend a "Captains" meeting.
