I would like to keep playing polo over there, but the problem is that i do not know any poloclubs. I also have no idear to wich part of the country i will or should go. I would sure appreciate it if you could send me a message about the poloclubs in america, where they are where the best clubs are, where the most clubs are and if those clubs have any polo gear for me.
Please send a mail to this adress arjenzz@hotmail.com or react on the forum.

Hi Arjen,

There are canoe polo clubs in the following areas. The first
few are the bigger, more active clubs :

San Francisco Bay Area
- most activity is close to Berkeley.
- some high-school aged players.
Los Angeles
- Affiliated with UCLA (University of California)
San Diego
Boston
Austin, Texas
Dallas, Texas
- mostly high-school level players.
Baltimore/Washington, Maryland
New York
Denver
Fort Collins
Salt Lake City
Seattle Area

You can find out more about US clubs at US Kayak Polo (http://www.uskayakpolo.org).

Send me a message if you need specific information about any
of the clubs, or if you're thinking of a particular area to visit ...

All the Best,
John O'D.

At the 2002 US Nationals, a team from Rochester, NY (about 60 miles from Cornell) was entered. That might seem far by European standards, but for an American, it's practically next door. The Boston club will know how to contact them.

You can get the contact information from the website Odo mentioned.

Just to add to Odo's post, there are two areas in the US where you're beginning to see regular inter-club competitions. New England (Boston, New York City, Maryland, etc.) and California (San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego). There are also occasional small tournaments in Texas. Fort Collins, CO has a very good seasonal league but does not even send a team to the US Nationals.

I think the reason for Ft Collins not sending a team is mostly due to timimg and cost.

Hey Arjen (and others),
I'm just going to hijack this US thread with a foreign plug.... :gun:

Have you considered coming to Canada to study and play? We would definitely be happy to play with you, and Canada is a less expensive place to live! :welcome:

Edmonton has the most polo players, and the University of Alberta. The west coast may be more attractive to you, with the Uof BC or Simon Fraser U, depending what you are looking for.

Just a thought, I'm sure you will have a good time no matter where you choose to go.

Keegen,

By virtue of the Canadian forum...its freakin cold up there. -45 degrees!!! Who the hell would want to do that to themselves. If it were up to me...I would try the study abroad at Hawaii or Florida or ahem California.

Then again, I am originally from Florida where the winters dip to a chilly 50 degrees F, so even California is a bit cold for me.

Cheers,

Howdy. I must say that if you are looking for a good High School and some decent games, come to Texas. The Dallas area (or about 30 miles north of Dallas i.e about a 20 minute drive) has an awsome polo club that holds most of the U21's in the US. Or there is always down farther south in Austin. Many of the US Senior members play down there. The temperature is good for year round play (unlike in ahem...CANADA!) and there are some white water and salolm courses around that area to mix up the fun! We would love to have you.
And forget Keegan. He is just jealous and wants to be in Texas too! ;)

Monica.

hey I am in the 11th grade I guess and hopefully next year I'll be in the 12th grade, and besides I am probably going to Colorado, but the organisation who's organizing everything for me still hasn't found a family yet, so I do not know where exactly I am going to live. I'll post it as soon as I hear anything.

PS: thanks for all the post, I really appriciate it..
