we are pleased to hereby announce our tournament, awara invitational, to all of you.
awara invitational is an international tournament, which will be held just before the worlds in japan.
some of you might have decided your planning how to travel/train before the worlds, still we most welcome those who are interested in our tournament.
we can strongly recommend you with the convition that awara must be the most suitable place to have the training camp just before the worlds in the following points.
・awara is close to the worlds' venue, just a couple of hours drive.
・don't play down the japanese summer. you may well take time to get used to this humidity at awara so that you can play at your best in the worlds.
・we are trying to prepare cheap accommodations. pls donot worry about the high expenditure typical in japan.
・awara is the host city of annual awara cup, which is the largest tournament in japan. pls enjoy awara's warm hospitality.
pls check the url below.(we will try to update more required info.)
http://www4.ocn.ne.jp/~awaracup/ (http://www4.ocn.ne.jp/~awaracup/)
should there be any unclear points or any questions, pls donot hesitate to contact the persons below.
so why don't you choose awara for your place of training camp just before the worlds?
last but not the least, we are wishing you all the best for a very merry christmas and a happy new joyous year!

New Zealand is looking at taking a mens and womens team to Awara in early July.
Who else is looking at going there as it looks very reasonably priced for Japan?

Dear Rob,
Hello again,
I gonna reply to your questions.
Hostel Questions:
We anticipate that the total Canadian team contingent will be as follows:
Senior Men 7 persons, Senior Women 7 persons, U21 Men 8 persons and 3
managers/coaches. Would the hostel have room for all 25 of us?
we have already made a reseration for all 25 of your teams at seinen-no -ie, which costs \530/day/night.
What facilities are available at the hostel?
Are there laundry and gear drying areas for our paddling gear?
we have 2 laundry machines at seinen-no-ie.
you can hang them out to dry outside.
Do we need to bring our own sleeping bags, dishes, cutlery. etc?
you donot have to bring them with you.
we have japanese style bedding, and also equipments to be used around kitchen will be prepared.
Are there hot showers and/or bathing?
we have both hot showers and bathing.
What are the sleeping arrangements?
Are men and women separate and sleeping in common rooms or are there smaller rooms?
the room is for 8 persons/room.
pls share it as you like.
Can we cook our own food or is one obligated to purchase the food that is prepared at the hostel?
yes, you can cook by your own. you are not obliged to purchase but you can buy at the supermarket.
What type of food is offered at the hostel/ I presume it is traditional Japanese style?
we can prepare food as you like as far as the budget permits.
(breakfast 400, lunch 550, dinner 750)
you tell us which kind of food you want in advance so that we can consider that.
What type of shopping facilities are nearby?
you will find convenience store nearby.
I am just double checking to see if the price per evening per person is 530 Yen?
That price seems very reasonable so I though I had better check.
How should we make reservations and payment for the hostel?
we confirm this price by japanese yen.
we have already made a reservation and payment is to be made by cash when your teams are at awara.
Traveling Questions:
We are planning on arriving in Japan approximately July 12,2004 at NagoyaAirport and will be traveling to Awara City that same day.
At this time we are not sure if we want to travel by train (with all of our polo gear),
or by bus (with all of our polo gear) or to hire vans to move everyone and the equipment.
My question is how easy is it to get from Nagoya Airport to Awara city with all of our gear
and your recommendation of what method would suit us best?
Also, is it very easy to get around with public transportation in the Awara City area?
For us cost is a concern , however if it is difficult to get around then we should be renting vehicles?
pls check our websight.
we have arranged the optiont to use rental bus for people
tranportation and truck for kayak transportaion.
we recommend you donot use public tranportaion but use bus and track.
i will revert about the tranportaion method in the awara city.
Polo Questions:
Have any other international teams entered the event and if so who are they?
pls check our website. america canada newzealand is already confirmed.
Is there a safe and secure site where we can store our polo gear?
Are there facilities available if we need to complete equipment repairs?
yes, you can use a kayak storage place, where will be locked in the night time.
reparis are to be made there.
As I mentioned we will probably be in Awara City on the evening of July 12th and would be ready to play polo July 13-16.
Your information document mentions that there will be training pitches available to use.
Will there be other teams available to play games against during this time?
you can train whenever you want while your stay at awara.
the number of participants are not fixed yet so that the coordination
with other teams will be made accordingly.
Approx what time does the competition end on Sunday July 18th and will we
be able to depart early enough to get to Miyoshi at a reasonable time?
will be fixed later but you donot have to worry about this point since we will much consider this.
Awara City Questions
What is the population of Awara city and are the some special tourist sites and cultural opportunities that we should partake in while we are there?
Are there ample amenities like medical services, shopping, restaurants nearby?
we will revert this later.
again , we have up-dated our information on our web-site so that pls kindly check it!

Australia has entered our Men's and Ladies teams in this event- we will probably be arriving on Wednesday July 14 and training and playing until Monday 19th.
I have also heard that GB are going too.
