View Full Version : what wax should i use to build the boat

i was making a paddle with the floor wax before (cos i can't find the fibre glass wax in my area) the result is worst.. now i m thinking to build a polo bat ... can someone tell me what wax should i use to build a boat? (car wax can i ??)and where can i get it? thanks alot.. :hump:

I have never tried any other wax but I would suggest to use the wax intended for such jobs (fibre glass wax you call it, I call it boat builder's wax, what's in a name).
If you really would like to use a different type of wax you could try bees wax but I am pretty sure you can simply order a can of boat builders' wax from the internet. If all else fails: mail Malcolm from Mega Kayaks (malcolm@mega-kayaks.co.uk) and ask him.
Like they say in Holland: "goed gereedschap is het halve werk" (roughly translated to "using the correct tool is half the job done").
