Hi there,

I have noticed that the 2Fshaft, supplied on some mega paddles, is very prone to snapping. I have seen a total of 7 shafts all snap in the past year, and recently two of my team mate's have snapped. One, for no apparent reason atall..he was paddling on the canal and it just went. The second happened in training when he saved a shot.

But i was wondering why mega use them instead of the Skypole. I had some eclipses with a Skypole and they have lasted now for 3 years and are still going strong :headbang:. They seem indistructable.

Any thoughts??

thanks

I do not have experiences with the 2F shafts but the skypole shafts are indeed awesome!

I guess the difference is costs: the 2F shafts are made by Lendal (UK) and the skypoles are US made AFAIK.

I always use the HPS shaft from lendal... and have experienced it to be the strongest one I ever used.. of course there are a lot of shafts I have never used.. so there might be several strong ones out there.. though I doubt it they are as light as the Lendal HPS..
If you check their website:
http://www.lendal.com/Paddles/paddle_shaft_materials.htm
They say that the HPS shaft is usable for canoepolo, but they don't say that about the 2F version...

Mega Generally supply whatever shafts are requested.

As the UK Mega Technical and Sales Rep, I ALWAYS advise our
Hi-Grade shafts, which we get Lendel to make specifically to our specifications.
These have been developed specifically for polo over an extended period of time and we have found them to be very reliable.

They are smooth to the finish like the skypole and I personally am very happy with them, and have not used an F2 for many years.

If you want to see some more information on this then check out my
web page (http://www.clydespolokit.com) and look under Products, then Boats and Paddles.

You will note that the Hi-Grade shaft is not quite as light as a 2F. Well, have a think about why that might be.
For the sake of that small addition in weight, I would rather trust my life on the river Thames at night with all them big boats on something less likely to fail !
