National Canoepolo Training Squad Selection

Hi, ppl.. Good news for people who wants to get into the national training squad b4 being selected to represent spore. The training squad shall be made up of 16 guys for mens team and 16 gals for ladies team. Date of the selection, critera and any other limitations is still under discussion.. so dun bother so much about the minor part first.. Now is a time to train hard after your exams to prepare for the selection, Singapore River Raft Canoepolo Tournament 04/05 and many many more competitions ahead.. At least u guys will be triaining hard :barbell: with more objective now.. News of the final decision shall be posted in the forum when it is ready. :cheers: :welcome: so lets wait for the news then..

hello Dart,
Is the selection used to select a group of 16 guys n gals, n from there select a final squad to represent Singapore ? So to say does it means that not everyone will get to represent even after being in the squad for lets say a couple of months ?

If so won't these players be taken away from their regular training sessions with their teams ?

Hope i'm not bothering u with this, just want to know how the respective institutes would be able to cope without their better players who are aiming to go for these selections, it may be a win / lose situation for the institutes...

a panel of judges will be selecting a group of guys n ladies to join the current squad. whenever there is any overseas competition, there will be a selection among the training squad. the best 8 will get to represent spore for the games. :cheers:

:D i think 16 player will be selected bcos the guys can be mixed ard by the coach to form two training teams.... so that the best 8 players will be selected during all these trainings.... if only select 8 players , they might not put in their best effort to train for the competition.... so wat clarke has said is abt this..... attendance shld play a big part here.... :welcome:

hello ...yup i agree with the format of 16 ppl (guys / gals one team) being selected ... This will motivate the ppl in the team, where the final 8 are the ppl who are willing to sacrifice their time, body n soul to this sport...This happens in all team sports, harsh it may seems but it happens... Nobody's place in the team is guaranteed.


When will the selection be ? Hopefully after december.....Curious to take a look hahaz.... :bgrinhat:

hi there, good news.... The national team selection will be carried out on the 30th and 31st jan 2004 during the SRRR 04/05 canoepolo com at Singapore Polytechnic Swimming pool. Further details n registration form will be posted on the forum n also to the individual schools involved. PLAYERS who is interested in going for this selection but doesnt have a team to play during the SRRR, pls email me @ stanley_yeo@hotmail.com. feel free to post any queries here. :barbell:

ATTENTION all national selection Participants!!!!

PHASE I test will be conducted @ Singapore Canoe Federation(beside Kallang Police Coast Guard) AT 1500hrs on 28th Feb 2004. All those who had went through the Phase II test are to attend. Participants will also be contacted via phone call..
Participant are advised to bring their own personal spray decks(impt) and equipments.

see you guys on the 28th feb 2004.. Btw late-comers will not be allowed to take re-test unless permission was given prior the date of test by the coach or federation.
