At the risk of forgetting somebody I would like to say a big thanks to everybody who had an input into the successful publicity of the competition…
In no particular order….. :thumbup: Thank you to ……
Mike Griffin – For finding time to design the posters even though he was busy training and creating a new hairstyle for the competition! :silly:
Adrian Barber – For writing up the Senior Mens player profiles for the Event Programme and for writing up all the match reports during the competition, used for websites and press releases.
Trish Mc Cormack – For writing up the U-21 Men player profiles for the Programme and to her daughter for typing it up.
Mary Comey – For organising the Womens team to write up their individual player profiles for the Event Programme. For collecting a box of tourist brochures from Kildare Tourism in Naas and for writing an article to be submitted to ‘The Sligo Champion’ and ‘Western People’ newspapers.
Fiona Hannon – For her assistance with organisation of media personnel on site in Kilcock during the weekend.
Gráinne Duggan – For on site photography for 4 days during the competition and for sending disks of photos to UK magazines and Irish newspapers.
Brenda Gannon – For driving around the city to collect a box of brochures from Failte Ireland.
Niall O’Crualoich – For ideas and inspiration as well as assisting with the writing and distribution of pre-competition press releases in Northern Ireland. For providing a CD of photos from the Belfast cup used in the Programme and for writing an article for ‘Paddles’ magazine.
Blackflash Productions – To Brett Wastie and Mohammad for travelling from the UK to film the event.
Jacinta Mc Gann – For chaperoning ’Blackflash’ for 2 days and assisting them with the filming of the matches.
Maire Diggin – For taking time out from duties as team captain to do interviews with journalists from the newspapers.
Tony Griffin – For providing a CD of photos from the Carrick-on-Shannon competition, used in pre-event press releases. And providing fleecy blankets for cold night in the campsite!!
Ray Manley – For providing the logos and map for the programme.
Albert Woods – For taking time to do an interview with journalist from Irish Examiner.
Michéle Verdonck ,– For writing an article about her canoeing career for UK canoe magazine.
Aisling Hickey – For writing an article about her personal experience playing with the Irish team.
Sean Mc Intyre – For writing an article about the event for ‘Canoeist’ Magazine nad providing photographs on his website.
Jon Hynes – Canoe and Kayak contributor to new Irish adventure magazine ‘Outsider’ for agreeing to give the event some coverage in the first issue, out 7th Sept.
Sue – For her good company and making sure I drank a fair portion of the 4 bottles of wine!! :drunk:
Sean Downes – For serving me as much ‘After Shock’ as I wanted!!
Welsh Supporters – Howie, the twins (Simon & Rob) and the guy with the rude t-shirts! For being good craic and great company during the competition.
And to everybody else who helped along the way, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did :) Your help was much appreciated.
Carmel Vekins has asked me to keep up the publicity for the sport, Iam willing to do that but will continute to need all your help too.
