Rodeo also known as freestyle are performing "stunts" using the kayak. An example will be doing a cartwheel using the kayak.

Generally kayakers learn and practice their moves in calm waters like swimming pools and lakes before moving to fast flowing waters like rivers (not the S'pore longkang, but the whitewater type). A really good rodeo kayaker is generally able to perform combinations of moves. :matrix:

So I guess pool rodeo means the performing of freestyle moves in calm water. Its more difficult as there is no fast moving water to support the moves and there are some moves that are just not possible in calm waters.

In S'pore, PA has some playboats but I think only the instructors are allowed to use them at this time. If I'm not mistaken, Paddle Culture also has a couple of the boats.

If you are interested, PA instructors are doing a rodeo demo at the end of July 2003 at Toa Payoh swimming complex during the Inter-con games. I'm not sure of the exact dates, but you can find out from the PA website.

There are tons of info on the net, including video clips. Just search for rodeo or freestyle under kayaking or canoeing.

Hope thats of help :drunk:
