Hi there,

I am planning to visit Singapore around 14-16 july for business, i woulds like some help in answering a couple of questions:

Are there any teams going to the Kuala Lumpa regatta 18/20 july?

Are there any shops that sell kayaking gear in Singapore? How do you buy gear?

Cuuld I train with any-body while I am there? I could help with coaching if required.

Just a quick description: I am the Export Manager for Perception Kayaks.....hence the business. I have played and coached Polo for 8-9 years. We have our national selections and National league finals a couple of weeks after my visit.....so I have to train.

Thank you in advance for your help

Hi James,

If you don't mind to play in the Opensea, we do have facilities for u to train. Though u may need to pay a small fee for rental of the equipment. Feel free to drop me a mail if u have more enquiries.

Hi!

I'm Sean, currently the captain from National Univ of Singapore, (NUS). You can come down on Tuesday nights, 7-9pm to join us for training. Do contact me at my email, seahkai@singnet.com.sg

We have a player population of 24 men, hence making that about 3 teams. We have a ladies team too.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi Hoya!

Nice to hear from you! I'm Seah Kai, Sean from NUS, and I've replied to your email before. It's great to have a player like you who is so concerned about the C Polo developements in the region.

Not to worry, we'll play hard, and drink hard :) !

And hello James! issit alright if I invite you down to NUS on Monday night? I was wondering if it will clash with your flight to Singapore or your jet lag. Cos our orginal training is on Tuesday night, but we'll be going to Malaysia for our training trip after that. Hence I might want to shift the trianing to Monday night.

Look forward to you guys coming to Singapore!
Regards,
Sean Seah

After a harrowing experience, both James and Hoya (James first then Hoya) returned to their home towns in one piece.

We hope you guys had a smashing time when you were here. I know all of us chummies here enjoyed both your company tremendously.

James, do visit us for a longer period next time so some of us can show you around our little island.

Hoya, I'm sure you'll be excited to cook some laksa for your wife to taste. More pool, durian, mangosteen when you drop by next time? Will let you know if I manage to go over next year. Hope my plans come through!

Wow! Nice place. You should be careful when posting pictures like that Kenta because given the conditions most people play polo in, the poor Singaporeans might get inundated with Swedes, Canadians, Brits and Americans looking for some sun.

TzeWee,

Unfortunately, cellphones made in Japan are suited for the GSM1900 network, as it is in US too. Only 2 countries in the world which refuse to budge out of the GSM1900 system. Don't think mobile phones designed for the Japanese market allows tri-band, unlike Nokia. That's why some Nokia phones can be used in Japan and US while DoCoMo phones can only be used in Japan or maybe the States.

For everyone's info, Japanese telcos do not support SMS. Their phones come with everything in the world except SMS. Understandably since Japanese characters would take them much longer to type. So, they call instead. Why bother to SMS?

I wrote an essay about this trip.
I hope it helps to introduce your country to Japanese players.

if someone can read Japanese, see this site.

Hey there all,

I'm a Singaporean currently studying and playing polo in UK at the moment but would love to continue playing throughout the summer when I'm back home in Singapore.

Any idea where I can join up with a team to train / compete? Are the nationals for this year in July/August too? I'd love to be able to play for them.

Thanks everyone
