Canoe polo in Toronto?

Hi everybody! :confused: I'm looking for some teams which play canoe polo in Toronto or around this area.

I don't believe there are any yet, however I have had some inquiries from others who are interested in playing. If you are really keen you can set up your own house league and start from there. Do a search of the Wild Rock Boater Board http://boatwerks.net/cgi-bin/board.pl for "kayakpolo", there was a recent post by someone interested in playing in the GTA

although i do not no to much about the whats goin on with canoe polo in the big t dot i know that there is canoe polo teames and clubs near by.

I am interested in playing canoe polo although I am a beginner. I don't mind a drive and live in Mississauga so I would be willing to commute, depending on how far of course :)
Do you know how I could find out about clubs in the surrounding areas. The only one I could find is Ottawa and that is a bit too far.

I just learned that there is a group playing canoe-polo in Mississauga. It is affiliated with a sprint canoe club but they are open for anyone in the area. Here is the email from Darryl Bohm I got when I made contact:

At present we have canoe-polo as a winter activity (though we do play during the summer at Mississauga Canoe Club). Not serious at present - mainly as we have not made contact with anyone about competitions. PS Sudbury Canoe Club also has a team.

There is a group playing in Mississauga Canoe Club as mentioned previously. They have been playing for about 3 years.
BUT they are first and foremost a SPRINT club.

We are planning to play them in Sudbury during March break. Sudbury are trying to get 2 teams going, from WW and Sprint. We are coming from Ottawa to help them get up to speed march 10.

There are some upcoming torneys in Montreal if anyone from TO is interested.

Sunday March 4th from 3:30 to 7:45 pm, freindly, with teams from Ottawa, 2 from Montreal & U. Laval.

And..
Date: April 21st and 22nd
Time: Saturday 12pm to 10pm
Sunday 7am to 12pm
Where: Notre-Dame College, downtown Montreal (direction will be poster later on our site)

I'm a CP contact so I will point people to this site....(from TO)...
