Dear Committee
Over the last number of years the league has changed, especially in the
relation to the type of person playing. The modern Polo player from the
Friday night league has other interests going on in their lives as well as
polo. This can be seen in that nobody hangs around after their match, the
lack of referees and the absence of line judges. Everything changes with
time and this can be seen with the equipment, the style of play and with
the rules themselves - all changed over the last few years.
One thing that has not changed in the league format and perhaps the time is
upon us to do so. As a proposal for the AGM I would like to include that
the league format be changed to the following format (that rather than go
down each night for one match , that there are only two Divisions run each
Friday on a rota basis).
e.g.
Night 1 ....... Night 2 ...... Night 3 ...... Night 4 ..... Night 5
Premier ...... Premier ...... Div 2 ......... Div 1 ........ Div 3 etc
Div 1 .......... Div 2 .......... Div 1 ......... Div 3 ........ Premier
This would mean that players have 2-4 matches per night that they are at
the pool -having the players there should entice people to become referees and
help with line judging. In essence teams will have to go to the pool 2-3
times per month which means they can do 'other things' on their 'free'
night.
As I've said earlier, peoples lives have changed dramartically over the
last number of years and the drain on their time is demanding., for myself, I go
to the pool, play my match, and go home straight after, my reasoning for
this is my family commitments. If I knew that I had only yo go to the pool
2-3 nights a month I would gladly renew my referee status and help out with
the league. The question of how many people are in the same situation has
be accessed and I feel that we all would be surprised with the answer.
Please include this as a proposal for the AGM (wording as you see fit).

This is a similiar situation to how the leagues are played in the UK at present. So what do you think? Good or bad idea. Make your voices heard!
