I was wondering if any other USA teams will be in Canada this June for the Canadian Nationals.

So far I know the Golden Age Breakers from SF are sending a team.

and there is a team composed of Austin and Paul Macey. I heard they are calling themselves the L.A. - Tex Trojans. Can it be true???

Is anyone else going?

I would book accomodation soon. There is another big sporting event in Grande Insecte that weekend, so campsites and cheap rooms will fill up fast. One of the links provided by the GP website to accomodation is really good and has just about everything in the area.

Are you lot going to enter as juniors or into one of the club divisions?

Oh, and the word is bring lots of bug spray and long sleeves/pants.

Cheers,
John

The juniors for the CA nationals are under 15. I think that the Texas Tornadoes team will be entering as Club B.

I know I don't belong on this thread... but I thought I would remind you... ESPECIALLY if you are DRIVING all that way... There is a tournament in Red Deer (on your way home, really...) only a few days after nats in GP... make your drive more worthwhile, and have a lot of fun with us!

I am working on a special prize for the team from farthest away (no promises)... do I have to get out a ruler to see if Tex is farther than LA?

If you would like me to plan any activities for the 3-4 days in between, let me know.

The Calgary Stampede goes for 10 days starting the weekend of our tournament. (July 4...), it is famous ... but PRICEY... Well, maybe not in USDs $$

Sorry for hi-jacking this topic line.... to stray back onto it... there will be camping available in Red Deer, and a certain # of billets.

if you are lookin for a place to stay in grand praire let me know, and i will do what i can to help you out. ther is a good chance i may be able to help you out. no promises though. also keep in mind g.p is not even close to the size of edmonton so it is much easer to get around, and to get from place to place know matter where you are becuse of the relativly small distances from place to place.

I don't know what your travel schedule looks like.. if you are stopping for sleep or not...

You are most welcome to stop in to our farm by Olds (Look between Calgary and Red Deer on a map) for a night on your way up. We are 6-7hours from GP. There will be a number of us travelling from this area North to the tourney, using the "back way" (not through Edmonton = quicker) (Unless you miss a turn and go the "BACK, back way"... like we did last time.. *sigh*..)

To digress... (as is my habit..) I seem to recall that a few of you are freestylers.. we are 1-1.5hrs from a few fun whitewater runs, if that might interest you.

Anyway, take care, I think everyone up here is quite interested in accomadating you as best we can (as you deserve for such a long trip!)!

Wow, Clinton, that would be great! So you live in G.P.? The guys are looking forward to getting up there. The current plan is to leave on June 23rd, arriving in Edmonton on June 25, pick up some new boats, work out a little on their pitch and then get to G. P. on June 26th, leaving possibly on the morning of July 1. They will have sleeping bags with them. I don't know Monica's flight details as she is out of town this week.

What an event. Boy am I jealous that I don't get to go on the 5000 mile road trip with them!

I don't know if you heard from Monica, but we made it from Edmonton back to Dallas from the 2001 Continental Cup in two days with a four hour sleepover near Denver. So most of these guys are seasoned road trip veterans.

Ask Monica about sardines, gasoline and the rest stop in Wyoming on the way back in 2001. ;-)

Rob Kerestes just contacted me and said that Anita Wilson had volunteered to put us up or put up with us or somesuch. ;-) So it looks like we will be taken care of. He copied you on the email as well, I think.

Looking forward to Canadian hospitality.

Still jealous I don't get to go.
