The Referee's workshop is postponed due to lack of numbers until early summer when it is hoped the weather and people's interest will have improved!

Was it not a bit silly to have a ref's course on a squad w/e, which immediately rules out 20 people or so, plus the women have just had a squad last w/e and I'm sure don't want to be spending another of the precious few free w/e's that there are this year standing on the side of the canal again????

Only problem is that this is going to keep reoccuring during the summer as between sq. sessions & comps, there are not that many free w/e left!

The referee course was planned based upon the original calanders provided by to the committee by the squads management last November and at that time that was the only weekend free i.e. Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th

However when the new coach for the men came on board the dates for the mens squad sessions were revised and the clash on the dates came about. So due to lack of interest we had to cancel the course. It was the intention to have a course run before the Belfast competition so that the National competitions would start with all referes briefed on the rules.

From the referees training course delivered in Hong Kong last month we found that a weekend course of both practical and theory would work well. So hopefully we can re-arrange and get some interest in people taking the course

We need to get more referees and without trained referees we dont get good quality refereeing and this thus effect teams and their games. Last year the committee focused on getting the national competition participation levels up which was a good success and this year we want to focus on getting more referees.

Sorry if my wording of the referee course cancelation was flipant. It was meant as humour and not as real comment on people's interest etc.

It has since disapeared off the site.

The webmaster promises to work on his humour!
