Greetings from New Zealand.:wavey:
I am currently putting together the NZ Mens itinerary - there has been some talk that Aussie, NZ, South Africa, USA and perhaps Belgium will be in Vancouver just prior to worlds - we are looking at perhaps flying straight from NZ to Vancouver - then car to Edmonton.
Are there other teams interested in getting together for a training 'week'? and or competition before worlds.
I understand there is a comp in France mid weekend of July - are there any other comps in Europe. We are still interested in coming to Europe before hand but the cost may be too high for us to attend just one comp.
Many thanks

For a starter, you could consider coming to our 19th Italian International I.C.F. Comp, which is to be held in north-eastern Italy on the 12th & 13th July 2008.
For further details you could consult the full programme shown on the calendar page of this forum.
Just keep in mind early registration should be considered as that will guarantee a place in the tournament because there is a maximum of 16 slots in the Men's category and 8 in the Ladies.

Thanks for your info - I'll be meeting with the team in a couple of weeks so will put your comp forward to them.:)

South Africa would prefer to have some sort of pre-world training in Canada as this will help us acclimatise and will be much cheaper for us than attending a comp in europe. We will probably try to fly direct to Edmonton so this would be a better venue for us but could probably also do vancouver if necessary.

Kevin,
There was some talk a few months back in Canada about either attempting to host a Pre-World Tourney either in Edmonton at a different venue from the Worlds location or at a venue in Alberta a couple hours away by car, both on the weekend prior to Worlds.
I don't know how the current talks in Canada regarding this have been going but I do know that the Worlds organizers in Canada will only be able to lend minimal assistance in the planning of the event.

Hey Patrick
A pre worlds comp would be great but if this isnt organised we would probably be happy with just gettting together with some national teams, at an informal pitch, to train and have some some games.

We have decided not to send the SA Mens team to the pre-worlds tournament in Red Deer. Main reasons for this are the extra cost for the trip and the extra time away. We will be looking at arriving in Edmonton on the 17th July and will train at the training pitch in edmonton for the next week up to the competition. We would really like to set up some informal games with other countries that are not in our pool so that we can get some good pre-worlds game time. Anyone interested then please let me know here or on kevin.meier@umgeni.co.za
