G'day all South Australians,
my partner and i are moving to Adelaide in 7 weeks and were hoping to learn more about where we're going before we get there. So any information on where to/not to live, where to train, etc would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Jimmy

As a general rule it's best to avoid Adelaide and SA as you may contract a case of extremus bordus. Choose a good state like Vic, WA, even NSW.

nah see nathe, jimmy as i remember isnt half bad on the polo field... so SA is most definately the place to be.

As for living, adelaide isnt very large, so nowhere is really that far from anywhere and i guess where u get a place is gonna depend most on how much u want to spend etc. if your looking for a house, or a unit and all that sort of stuff. the cbd is a 1km square surrounded by parklands. I'd say 20-25 minutes anyway from the city is all fairly decent.

as for training, most of the water is gonna seem pretty dirty here, coz well it is kinda dirty. We train at the torrens in the city mainly atm. as well as the pool time we get at the aquatic centre. we sometimes train out at mawson lakes which is about 15-20 mins northeast of the city. or at west lakes which is 20-25 mins north-west. when and where is usually determined by where people are working, and how clean the water courses are (ie low rainful and extreme heat tend to result in algae during summer)

glenelg where u guys were at oceania, is about 20-25 mins south-west of the city, but we dont really train out that way, coz no one really lives there.

thats all i can really think of atm, any questions ill see what i can do.

I grew up in NSW and WA Nathe and while I wouldn't mind WA again, it's time for something new.

Cheers for the info Luke, was very helpful.

While things may be a bit slow here in Adelaide we play this great game to keep us entertained. Its called Canoe Polo you may have heard of it but i dont think that you really play it over there in vic.

With so many players i find it hard to believe that you cant enter even one summer series team. where is the support for the sport at a national level?

I think you'l find there will be atleast one vic team attending summer seriese. quite possibly more! we are on our way to being a very competitive side like we once were with all the new talent that's around!

Hi Jimmy,

Looks like you have created some inter state animosity. I find that you now have the right qualities for moving to Adelaide.

I guess Matty that in Vic you don't have to wait 9 months to get to play a game against more the other 3 families. It's good to have some variety. A sport is only as healthy as its number of participants, and the elite few need to be supported by wide base. Maybe people in Vic like to play as a social game?
