Good day everyone,
The pre-Worlds Tournament held at the venue of next year's World Championships has gone very well.
The turnout of players from outside of the Edmonton area was somewhat disappointing but the event organization itself went great.
The new technique of isolating the water of the pitch from the waters of Hawrelak Lake using floating baffles was extremely successful.
This method allowed for a smaller quantity of chlorine to be used in order to bring the water of the pitch up to the water standards required by the Province of Alberta.
Other items worthy of mention, we had a wireless network in place so that our results table out on the pitch could easily share the results with the Officials area on shore. This quickened the display of the results after each game and is definitely something we will repeat next year, our new alluminium floating nets worked beautifully, and finally the floating dock system performed to our expectation by being very stable to walk on.
To see some photos of the event and the venue, go to www.2008Worlds.ca (http://www.2008Worlds.ca) and scroll down to the bottom of the Home Page.
We hope that many of you are planning to attend the 2008 Worlds next July,
and that some of you can help us by volunteering for this prestigious event. If you wish to volunteer, please send us a note at
" volunteer at 2008Worlds.ca " or go to our website and use the form which is available there.
